Good morning all,

Just a quick question, about a year ago I took all my badges off to paint them. When I did, you could see an outline/shading of where the letters were placed on the truck. This wasn't a problem at the time because I was going to be putting them back in black. But now unfortunately the paint is chipping on the letters and I'd like to go ahead and do a full debadging. The truck is a 2002 Flame Red 1500 QCSB. Will the colors soon align once I remove the letters? Would a nice wax and buff help?

Thank you,

you will always have the shadow in the paint because it was protected from sun damage it can be lessened by a colour sand and buffing this will take the oxidation off of the clear coat. You can always gold leaf or silver leaf the logos onto the paint you have the perfect outline :)

500 grit sand well, use Bulldog (adhesive promoter), repaint, re-apply. You'll be good

I'd rather just remove and go for the debadge look. Last time I did that repaint and reapply thing it took me a almost a full day! Just get all that double sided tape off the truck and getting the new stuff put on. Any way to minimize color differences between the faded and the covered areas?

I wanted mine twice and put some cheap Nufinish polish on it once. Mine may not have been as bad as yours, so you can only see mine from an angle in the sunlight. Any pics of yours so we can see?

Oh I used a ton of goo gone to take mine off, that may have eaten the fade right off my paint lol.
