Got the Decked drawer system for my PW. I am adding a bunch of things to the bed for offroading, including a Power Tank, Fuel cans, Hilift jack and Maxtrax boards. I have a topper on my truck. I am debating on where to put my fuel cans. I have two racks (4 cans) and only one is shown. I thought the best placement for the cans was all the forward in the bed. However, it makes getting them in and out more difficult. But, if I put them near the tailgate, I will lose much of the deck available near the tailgate. Any thoughts?

I have the decked system and a soft topper.

If you’re going to put anything in the bed forward I think you’re going to need a bed slide of some sort. That has been my only complaint so far as I actually think the decked system makes it harder to get things out of the bed that are all the way forward since it’s that much taller than stock. Luckily I’m able to open my topper right behind the cab if there’s something that needs to be grab from there.

The times you will use the gas cans will be the times you off-road in remote places. So if you do that kind of wheelin’ then how often? 2-4 times a year? Totally worth putting it in the back out of the way if you don’t need it but once every quarter. I use mine gas regardless every 3 months to keep it fresh in my cans.

Thanks for the responses. I thought about the slide too. They do make one for this system. However, I agree with trailmaker--I don't offroad that much, so I'm going to put them up near the cab.

Got the system and most of the gear installed. I decided to put the fuel cans at the back. They aren't too difficult to get out. The center of the bed is still available for carrying stuff.

Love it! Great setup man. What did you use to mount the traction boards?

I bought a bracket from Rhino racks, I think, then I used topper clamps to hold it. No holes in the bed were needed to attach it. This pic is not the final method. I actually used the inner holes of the bracket. They put the boards closer to the side and gave more support.
