Ok, here’s one more from the book of odd stuff...

Shortly after purchasing my RAM I noticed that it appeared some clear overspray was sitting on the windshield. Thought it happened during the delivery detail. It almost looked like dried drips of a crystal-clear liquid wax.

After scrubbing the outside, without success, I thought maybe it’s on the inside...Nope. You can’t even feel anything on the glass surface.

Took to dealer, and after using some glass appropriate compounding, no change. Looking through it there is some slight blur (almost like looking at heat off of asphalt) - but I am convinced it’s in the glass.

Wish I could share a pic but it doesn’t photo well enough to show. Size is about 5” x 5”, not in direct line of sight but so damn annoying.

I can probably replace through warranty if I make a stink about it, but think it could be worse if the new install isn’t “factory perfect “.

Thoughts?

The dealer "should" know how to properly install a replacement for you---but IMHO is always a crap shoot with dealerships.

Yep My 07 Mega cab came with that option. Right above the rear view mirror. Went thru the same process. Took it to my glass company. He wrote up a replacement estimate stating it was a "lamination defect" (rare) Took the truck to the dealer handed them the estimate and they ordered a new windshield and replaced under warranty.

My 93 Grand Caravan LE (with the 3.8 of course) had a similar issue.

There was a blurred/distorted spot right about the size of a 50 cent piece right in my line of sight.

Dealer tried to get it fixed by polishing/cleaning, but ended up replacing it under warranty, but the replacement windshield had the same problem just in a slightly different spot. They paid a local glass shop to replace it from their inventory the 2nd time, and it was fine.

Brand new vehicle with less than 500 miles on it and it had already had 3 windshields........
