Looking for some opinions. What's the best degreaser to cut through year's of oil and dirt? I'm in the process of cleaning up the 90 12v cummins I'm restoring. And it's filthy. Typical 12v. There are a lot of areas that getting to with a brush isn't going to happen. Currently using full strength zep degreaser and gunk engine degreaser and it's still a pain getting off. Any ideas are greatly appreciated

Purple power works well but it also took some paint off my mower deck!

I have to run into town tomorrow so I'll grab some of that and try. I just need something that will breakdown the thick layer of oil/grease mainly around the oil pan in the areas I can't reach.

Built-up oil and grease on the undercarriage I might initially try Brake Cleaner, then probably use some Simple green.

Do you have access to a hot water pressure washer? Any good strong degreaser, let it soak for 5 or 10 min. Hit it with hot water pressure washer.
Most rental companies will rent one for 4 or 6 hours for not much cash....well worth it.

I’d start with simple green and a scrub brush but would probably be moving to a foaming engine degreaser. Spray it and let it sit

I'm not sure if any place around here has one, may have to look into it

Do you have any of the self car washes, use the Gunk engine degreased in the can with a pour spout put it on the Block and use a stiff parts cleaning brush, when you load it in the back of a truck you can apply it and brush it in before you go to the car wash that hi pressure will blast that grease off, The Gunk spray foam is worthless!!!

If you're not worried about any paint. Purple power and a pressure washer. If you dont have a pressure washer. You can buy ends for a hose pipe that neck down to like a 3/16 hole. Mine looks like a miniature non adjustable firemans nozzle. I use it for cleaning out my gutters. Also seen a wand at lowes or home depot with around a 1/8 hole. Straight purple power is some nasty stuff and will etch/burn glass. So be careful with it!

Paint isn't a issue. Pressure washing is going to be a problem

Take a look at ----autopia---It's a worldwide detailer site. They also sell products in their store. Might find something there.

I did pick up some purple power. Seems to pretty similar to zep. Both work good with scrubbing.

It's just the area's I can't reach is what I'm after. Just need something that will break down the years of oil and grease.

S100 found in most motorcycle shops or online also work well and is safe for paint.
