We ordered a 2018 3500 Laramie limited. Our Salesman has been great, but last word was it was put on a train on 10/22 in Sotillo, but apparently it has not yet passed a sensor in the U.S. for them to track it. Realistically, how long does it take from being put on the train to get to North Carolina? I can understand my sales guy not wanting to say anything too specific other than "it can take a few weeks" because if it is later than he says the customers get angry.
So, it has been on the train two weeks, how long does this trip take?

Your sales guy can`t control "how when where" your truck is while in transit, tracked or not. Thats why he isn`t saying much. You can be next door to saltillo mexico and the transit can go right by your house, but if its first stop is in oregon, you`ll have to wait for it to come all the way back down to you before your truck is dropped off. Be patient, it`ll get there soon enough. It might not have made the list to ship as planned, one vehicle can be the deciding factor in how a vehicle ships, too. Most dealers should be telling you that it can take up to a couple months before you see it. If they dont tell the customer that up front, thats not good for either party. And with whats going on within mexico right now, they might even have had to re-route their shipments of vehicles. Or worse, vehicles might have gotten damaged/lost along the way to their destination.

Well if for some strange unknown reason it comes up to Detroit first it could take a while. Thieves have been stealing the new vehicles from one of the shipping yards.

Yep, the build time is rather quick for most trucks out of Saltilio now. The delay is from the release to ship date to dealer delivery. Our 2018 2500 was released for ship on 10/2. In transit since 10/23. Estimated delivery to dealer is 11/5. Tracking, once it leaves assembly is very iffy.

If it goes through Texas there might be a delay due to the storms and flooding.

Here's some...at least he's not up in the Northeast! Mexico to its destination via rail isn't that big a deal since his Ram's railcar shouldn't have to go through Chicago (the rail capital of the country); that place can throw in some serious snags in transit time.
