OK, thanks. Weird how I keep seeing red loctite on so many YT videos for these plugs.
If you want to use thread sealant/aka pipe dope you can,but i wouldn't use red loctite.50+ years of changing fluid in diffs/transmissions/right angle drive gearboxes etc,and i've never once used a sealer on the plugs, but if it makes you more comfortable to use a thread sealant go for it.

Just want to do things right, and I guess seeing all these tutorials with them all suggesting using red loctite . . . made no sense to me since the NEXT time you need to do it . . . . good luck. Sort of like with boats - we always called 5200 adhesive "F*&k the next owner" adhesive.

IF.... and a big IF.... I were going to use a threadlocker I "might" use blue Loctite 242... but never red. Red isn't meant to come back out, whereas blue will keep a bolt from backing out on its own but you can remove it with hand tools.

I wouldn't use threadlocker on it at all. If installed correctly, it won't leak.

If you use red locktite you will never be able to remove the plug again. As for blue - why? If the plug is a pipe thread, doesn't need to be locked and if not there's a sealing washer. I have pipe threads and use ptfe pipe sealant on mine, but even without that you probably won't have an issue.

You didn't mention this but do you have one plug or two (or more)? If you have only one you'll need to remove the cover to drain it. There is a relatively simple procedure for doing that; cleaning it and using sealer. Several BoobTube videos on that.

One caution: Don't get the plug too tight, you will strip it. Look up the torque; I usually do around 12 ft-lbs on mine.

My truck is just a daily driver. No towing or racing. Got 75k miles on it. Is it a necessity to change the rear differential fluid or just go till 100k miles???

If your truck is a 13,i'd change it,as the fluids already 12 years old,and it does degrade not only with miles, but with age.
Your truck calls for 75W-140,stick with that.
Do you know if you have the limited slip/posi diff,if you do,you'll either want fluid with the additive,or else add the additive if you buy the fluid with-out it

It’s a 17’. Yes it does have limited slip with 3:92 gears. I have a bottle of the limited slip Yukon fluid. Just seeing if I should even mess with it or wait.

It's never a bad idea to change it,and at 75,000 i'd change it,your truck is already going on 9 years old,if it was built in 2016.Alot of guys change at 50,000 or less,as it's cheaper to change the fluid then it is to replace bearings or rebuild the diff.
Idealy you want to pull the drain plug when the diffs hot, like after a 100 mile trip, then let it drain for an hour or even overnight. You get a better drain if the diffs at operating temp when you pull the plug

I'm using Amsoil for one bc they come in Those easy to fill bags. Im the second owner of my truck and after changing all my fluids on this truck it was smooth and crisp feeling as compared when I bought it from the original owner at 198000 km. While I was under there I slapped on a Yukon rear diff cover to boost the look. One question I have for that fca ram link is my vin says I have fog lights in my standard equipment column. Does that mean the provisions are there behind my bumper somewhere as far as electrical ? Bc I don't have any lamps in my bumper.

Why not post a screenshot of this FCA spec?

I'm not sure if you fog lamp switch is the same as my '21 Warlock.

On my truck the lamp selector switch is pressed to turn fog lights on/off.

I'll get a picture tomorrow or, I may have a picture on my PC, I'm using the phone, ATM.

Does the switch on your truck have any indication for fog lamps?

Also, a fog lamp indicator illuminates on the EVIC when they're switched on.

I wonder if the previous owner may have removed them.

If they're on the build sheet, I would expect the wiring to be there.

Yes, I do have the fog lights button along with the cargo light button as well. They both illuminate on my evic when pressed. Like I said I'm the second owner of the truck, I've been fixing it up since I bought it. It's good running Truck, the last owner oil sprayed it regularly and seemed to take care of it. I put new Cvaxles, ball joints and new parking brake assemblyand all the fluids. Im planning to swap the 1500 bumper for a 2500 bumper and then bolt on some performance mods I already have when it gets warmer. Ya I should change my Avatar, I have the same pxr paint and also I'm lifted the same as in the picture lol

I checked that link and apparently it doesn't support any 2009 trucks. I've been trying also how to install the 2013 -2018 laramie style front seats into my truck. As mine the heated seat function isn't working and my driver side bolster is ripped. I've already upgraded the door panels and the evic I pulled from a 2016 laramie, but when I tried installing those seats the wiring was different and my dash went crazy for a bit and nothing worked. So I left those seats that day at the U-pull yard, but swore I would figure it out and also figure out how to swap my side view mirrors thats have all the power functions except power folding with some factory power folding mirrors I find next at another yard.

Now that's some magic if you installed the evic from a 16 into an 09,as it's a completely differant wiring harness.
The trucks underwent massive electrical changes in 13,and not much transfers over with out changing the wiring and several modules
