It will depend on if it has a limited slip or not.

You could check the factory service manual. There is a link somewhere around here to download it. When I serviced my Chrysler 9.25" diff, I used Valvoline 75w-140 Synthetic with some Trans-X Friction Modifier. That's what the FSM recommended for heavy hauling. For "normal" use it calls for 80w-90 I believe....

Those are both recommended weights for the 9.25" axle. A D80 may be different.

If you decide to use it make sure you ad a friction modifier or the rear-end will chirp when making a turn.

Friction modifier and LS additive are the same thing. You can use one or the other.

Surprised the Amsoil doesn't already have friction modifier in it. I know a lot of synthetics have it because it's easier to just skip a step. Keeps people from jacking up their stuff and then suing the manufacturer.

given the opportunity, you could go with Redline as it has friction modifier in it, no need for MOPAR Unicorn tears.

The chart states it very clear thanks SOCAL!........Now since I already ordered friction modifier to use in conjunction with gear oil.,
I won't be using Amsoil severe gear oil with friction mod already added .......I'll buy oil without and just add my own.
I have a Question about the weight of gear oil to be used, the truck will be used less than 3k miles a year & within that year I'll be
towing my boat (which is 14k lbs. boat & trailer) approx. 3 times a year totaling 1K miles. The grade will be slight incline, but not
mountainous .........should I still use recommended 75w90 oil?

We use the 75w-140 as it is already in the shop for trucks and throw in the modifier. Do not use 80w-90 in it whatever you do. It will act like a locker.
