i have finally purchased bigger gears for the rear diff on my truck. my question is, would there be any kind of problems at all if i were to just install the bigger gears on the rear of my 4x4 truck without doing the fronts if i don't go 4-wheeling? since iv'e owned my truck, iv'e never had to put it in 4x4, specially since iv'e had no need for it. what do you think? thanks.

Wouldn't hurt anything, I would take the front drive shaft out just so you definitely can't use it though.

that's what i thought too. i just wanted to make sure.

Why would you just do the rears?

i'm starting with the rears first and in about a month or so, i will also be doing the fronts. i'll also be doing a bunch of other things to the front like seals and stuff so i need to save for all of that.

I agree to unhooking the drive shaft otherwise who knows what happens when someone accidentally puts it in 4 wheel and screws you over.
