Quick questions... I purchased (well.. attempted to.. long story) profile pivot switchbacks for an Alpharex 2019 Style Gen 1 makeover. I have to reorder the strips and in the interim I have run across Diode Dynamic HD strips so I have a couple of questions before I re-order.

1) Is the DD LED strip much more visible in daylight compared to the pivot? white (DRL mode) and amber (turn mode)?

2) does the Diode Dynamic come in a sequential (couldn't find one but it doesn't mean it doesn't exist)?

3) are the sequential LEDS for both brands the exact same brightness (or apparent brightness) of the plain switchbacks? I would assume white is unchanged but that sequential could lower the actual or apparent brightness) if yes do either the DD's or PP's have an edge? Here if anyone has or knows of videos of either brand flashing turns in direct daylight/ sunlight I'd be much obliged.

When all is said and done I don't want to finish this project and find that my turns are really only visible at night as that will be too much of a safety concern for me (even though I still have the mirror flashes).

Thanks in advance! :)

Sequential: As far as I know, DD does not offer a sequential switchback strip, however you can cut the DD strips at any length, and they still work. My suggestion is, if you absolutely must have the DD switchback strips, but you want them sequential, then I would but the 12” strips, cut them into 4 sections of 3” strips, then you can purchase a sequential blinker module from DD and you can wire each of the 4 3” strips to the sequential module and they would become sequential. Doing it this way also gives you more flexibility with how you can mount the strips, or run them in hard curves or turns of the lens.

Brightness: I have personally installed more then 50 sets of the DD switchbacks and the PP switchbacks into Ram headlights, mostly OEM Projectors. When it comes to performance (brightness) I would say they are almost identical. The real factor when it comes to seeing them in the daylight is how they are mounted inside the headlight and if the diffuser will block a considerable amount of the led light. If you want them to be the absolute brightest they can be, then I suggest mounting the strips so that the LED Diode is pointing directly out the front of the headlight, versus the most common mounting method; mounting them so they face downwards.

I’m pretty sure you are well aware that any Amazon or eBay switchback strips will never come close to the DD or PP in brightness and clarity. Also, with the DD and PP the less form a single strip that is smooth and uniform, whereas most of the cheap amazon/eBay ones you can clearly see each individual led and it doesn’t make it look nearly as clean.

If I was you, I would chose the PP sequential strips as they are already what you want, not to mention they can be cut and reconnected with wires as well. I’m going to be selling prebuilt AlphaRex lights with upgrades in them, and for these builds I will be using the PP 18” sequential strips, cut into 2 9” sections, with one in the top DRL section and one in the bottom DRL section. But that’s just me and what I would do.

Not a huge fan of DD. Great customer service and their product worked, but it took about 6 hrs worth of trial and error with the wiring as they would not work as advertised (were not plug and play). I know many have not had this issue, but I have had about 8 people message me on here with the same issue, so it's not just me. Once figured out, they perform great, but we will see long term reliability in time...

We're you by chance able to see their performance vs the profile stuff?

I can’t speak for the difference between the PPs and DDs, but, when I redid my gen 1s, I was going to use the profiles for the lower for DRL and sequential, and leave the upper alone. The profiles were significantly different in color than the upper white strip. Almost a tinge of blue. I couldn’t leave it, and I wasn’t gonna pay that much for another set of profiles to do the uppers so they would match. I ended up returning the profiles and got two sets of sequential strips off of Amazon for $20 a set. They are just as bright as the profiles were. The turn signals on either the profiles or the amazon set are not very bright (especially compared to stock projectors), but that’ll be the case with any strip because the amber light has to fight through the frosted diffusers on the alpharex housings.

Yeah, I figured I'd be taking a hit on the turns but silently hoping not so much that I rethink the whole thing. Still haven't reordered. Thinking all of this through. I just don't want to even consider the " I didn't see your turn signal" conversstion.... and what it would mean. I'm jaded by just how bright my stock turns are. They light up signs a block away... not bright of course but most definitely noticeable. No arguing they can be seen. I've been looking at cars on the street and the older ones aren't very bright at all.... but is that the standard I want to go by?? Decisions, decisions. Lol

Quick question. Does the reflector on the projector have a bulb under it? If so what size/ style? Figure maybe I can pump up the brightness there too :)

Which headlights are you referring too? If you are talking about the AlphaRex V1 headlights then yes there is a light behind the reflector but I believe it is 3 led’s, I forget how many, but definitely led’s.
