oh that gear is no problem. In fact it really doesn't matter where you align it to because you will establish which distributor cap nipple is cylinder number one after you get things buttoned up. I had everything on cylinder one TDC and pointed the slot in the intermediate gear (the gear under the distributor) to cylinder number one but when I got things running I couldn't advance the distributor quite far enough. No problem I just moved all dist plug wires CCW one position and it was right in the sweet spot
