Currently I have dual exhaust with a flowmaster 2 in 2 out muffler. I'm wanting to put a magnaflow race series single muffler onto each pipe to make it true duals. So do I need to add an x pipe to avoid losing back pressure or anything like that?

Most seem to like the X pipe, but my exhaust guy told me that it would be better without one, so I didnt put one in. Not sure why he said it. I figure he had them there and could have sold me one, so must have had a good reason not to. Pretty much your call. Mine runs great without one and I have true duals. Good luck!

Thanks for the input. How do you like your magnaflow bullets?

Awesome sound! Not too loud at idle, limited drone in the cab, but sounds beast at WOT! I added some 12" tips at the bumper to deepen the tone a bit more as they were more raspy than I prefer. Very little loss of power at low end which actually helps a bit with tire spin haha. Pull great on the top. I paid $250 installed for the setup (2x MF bullets, new non-smashed pipe from drivers side cat to muffler, reused pass side cat to old y pipe, and 2x 12" chrome rolled tips..look stock from back and cant tell they are not stock til seen from the side). If I was going to change anything, and probably will when headers added, larger OD stainless tips on the back for a little bit more bassy sound. Very happy with the current setup right now though.

An X or H pipe helps exhaust scavenging, which is the exhaust pulse of one cylinder helping to draw in the intake charge (during valve overlap) of another cylinder.
Some purpose built drag cars dont have crossovers but when you put down 1300 whp it tends not to be a big deal.
Every modern car or truck ive ever been under with a v8 and stock dual exhaust has a crossover and 95% of custom exhausts ive seen. Its not just for fun im sure. Its more work and more parts but all OEMs do it (our beautiful ram y must be the exception lol)

Improved efficiency = improved power and economy. Why not?

The biggest thing iv found with not using a H / X pipe is you get a popping noise through pipes without one rpm's come down the x/h pipe seems to reduce this

Magnaflow claims that their xpipe increases torque and horsepower but reduces sound db's. I doubt there is any significant gains with it and I definitely don't want to quiet down my exhaust any
