I have a Laramie longhorn 2016 Ram 2500 and want to remove the Telematics box but I can’t find the darn thing. I took both glove boxes out and can’t see it.
Does anyone know the location? Do I need to remove the radio maybe?

Thank you for any help

As far as I know there's isn't typically one like on the 2022+ 5th Gen trucks.

On a 4th Gen, it's part of the radio.

I feel the same way and have plans to extract the wireless card at a future date.

I know my '21 Warlock (4th gen) has a Sierra Wireless card in the radio.

I've read posts elsewhere showing that mine is socketed and a pretty simple task to extract.
IIRC, I found the removal instructions on a Ram HD website.

Extracting the card has been on my to do list but ever since about the 3 year mark (January '25), FCA has stopped sending me the monthly truck reports.

I surmise that the data is continuing to be uploaded on wireless servers but FCA is no longer paying to receive that data.

Once I complete a NAV replacement project, I will likely pull that card out.

Here's the deal if you still have an original factory installed 2013-17 Harmon 3c 8.4 Ra3/Vp3-NA or Ra4/VP4-NA (Nav) radio...

These USA radios shipped with a Sierra Wireless 3G cellular modem for the Sprint network, which doesn't exist anymore. IMO, it's highly unlikely for anyone to track and shutdown your truck via cellular signal anymore unless they're driving next to your to hack it, even then, idk?

If you're still very worried, unplug the purple cellular connector at the back of the radio. Done. (You can get a cell bypass plug to get rid of the error message that pops up if needed/it bothers you. I have some ready to ship on the shelf).

If you upgraded to a newer, 2018+ Panasonic 4c UAx series radio, they have a 4g At&T cellular modem that is still very much active.

I'll take it a step further and say you can pop the button connector off the back of the FAKRA connector that goes to the Aircard, this is what I did to avoid receiving OTA updates end effectively kills cellular reception from any remote source (unless they are sitting in the car).
