TRUE STORY from a 2025 RAM 3.0L Hurricane Owner:

Warning: The contents are disturbing and may cause fits of rage and/or computer contolled idiocracy

"I have a 2025 Ram 1500 Laramie but I'm sure this goes for all 2025s with the digital oil indicator...If you get an oil change the dealer has to reset your oil level by running the vehicle to 180 degree F, park on level ground, and then shutting off the vehicle and then press start button without the brake pedal pushed (axillary mode) for 5 minutes. The reason why I'm posting is because I recently had an oil change done and the next day my indicator showed one "pie shape" on the indicator or not at the max level, to me that meant the dealer didn't fill all 7.5 quarts so I added a quart. No change on the readout so I was going to run it and recheck and I was meeting a friend for lunch so I had time. I stopped, on level ground (I didn't know about the reset capability at this time) and was in axillary mode just listening to the radio and I get an "Exceeded Maximum Oil Level" warning...WTF!!! I have a different dealer by me and they were able to change my oil AGAIN and now the level checks okay. I hope this detours anyone from making a catastrophic mistake after an oil change."

In LIGHT of this True and Horrific account another true story emerges

Well guys, one day a genius will come up with a fool proof method of checking the oil level.

I have this crazy idea of a small tube attached to the engine block that allows a thin flexible cable to slide down into the engine oil bay and check oil level.

Everyone mocks me and says that will never work.......................

They say: "me and my idea is just a 'Big Dip' "

If i can pull this off and prove to the world it works, i will call my invention 'The Oil Dip-SticK'

A lot of the high gimmicky features and gadgets in new vehicles aren't there for those with know-how.
That stuff was put in place for the next Gen who like more buttons and everything from LCD panel. This is part of what's driving up new vehicles prices. Engineers only think about if they "could". They never stopped to think if they "should". Paraphrasing Jurassic Park.

I've got a geek side that would love an oil level LCD read out. But I'm more realist who imagines replacing that type of sensor would require removing the oil pan.f-that.

Ahhh, witnessing the decline of America.... I was recently told by wilwood customer service that stock brakes were "adequate" in the same email they sent a link to the thousands of dollars big brake kit I was considering.
I guess extreme vibration when braking is normal at 60000 miles, but if you want something the company selling claims you dont need ...it's about 3k.

She is correct for a lot of people, that drive with no brake pads and they don't use them as they don't know what STOP means, some are commercial drivers as well.

I'm not sure what you're trying to say here. Stock brakes are adequate, but adequate doesn't mean there aren't better options. If you have vibration, then you've got something worn out or warped. We put Power Stop rotors and pads on my old (now my son's) 2012 Express and once you do their break in (brake in? heh) procedure they are definitely better than OEM.

Perhaps you should get it professionally looked at. The replacement brakes that were on my truck when I bought it were garbage Auto Zone ones that vibrated badly. Put power Stops pads and rotors on it and brakes better than any pickup I have owned in 50 years.

Decline of America? Bold statement. More like decline of common sense.

Our '48 DeSoto, which we've owned for 76 years, just recently had a battery die, now it needs brakes and a muffler, the chrome is peeling off the bumpers, and the heated steering wheel never worked. Brought it to the dealer and they said it was out of warranty. I will never buy a Chrysler, FCA, or Stellantis product again!!

We did the brakes on the 2012 at almost exactly 100k miles. Fronts were badly needed. Rears could have went longer. No towing or anything really heavy, though.
WOW - i never made it past 40k on my trucks

But then i used my 1/2 ton pickups for work, hauling firewood, towing my boat and of course the occasional(frequent) high speed pursuit
