Morning all,
The passive entry function on the drivers side of my 2017 Laramie suddenly quit. The locking button on the outside also does not work. Tested the door with my wife's fob present and it still doesn't work. Both FOBs work fine on the passenger side door for entry and locking. Both FOBs also work fine for lock, unlock and remote start.

Any suggestions? I just received by AlphaOBD and OBDLink MX+...... will that show any codes that I could use to troubleshoot?

Thanks for the help!!

Yes, you can check for DTC codes with the Alfa tool and that's exactly what I recommend doing once you get it. This way you won't just be throwing parts at it trying to figure out the problem. You can check for door antenna functions plus other tests. If the button on the outside plus the inside door sensor isn't working it kinda seems like it could be an antenna issue but hard to say for sure. The door antennas are mounted the the rear doors of the truck. You also have two interior antennas in the truck that are for the fob to function while you are in the truck. These antennas do not control the passive entry feature.

Thanks Rick...

The interior arm rest lock and unlock buttons work fine on both front doors.... Just cant get the drivers door to unlock when I grab the door handle or to lock the truck with the exterior door handle button.

Its pretty cold here now but hopefully I can get out there soon and use the OBDLink to see the codes.

Yip, that's definitely the best bet. I was referring to the sensors on the inside of the exterior door handle plus the button not working correctly. These are controlled by the RF Hub (Radio Frequency). The BCM and the RF Hub are the modules you will connect to when you check for DTC codes.

So,
after a bit of learning, used the OBDLink app (still learning the AlphaOBD app) and found a code on the RF module like you said. It has one error for the antenna...

Now, I had some issues with the back window also being intermittent and have looked at the wiring harness between the left rear door and the body...didn't see any obvious breaks in the wires there but the pins seem very loose in the plug that goes into the body. Does the antenna receive its power from that harness as well as locks/window operation? I have looked at some similar harnesses and they are about $85 bucks so would rather not go that route.
How hard is it to rewire that plug or am I just stuck with getting the entire harness and taking the door panel off to reconnect all the plugs that this harness goers to?

On a separate note, I also have some BCM error codes that I found while checking diagnostics that show a low beam left and right error, but all my lights are working fine and havent converted to LEDs....yet.

Any ideas on these issues?

TIA

I’d go back to the antennas. The Durango for instance has 3, 3rd hidden inside the tailgate floor. When they come unplugged or wires loose you lose the passive entry. On the Durango they cost like $25
