After reading all the posts and given how I use my truck I decided on the Dualliner. It was delivered last week and finally got around to installing it today. Took me all of about a half hour. The front and sides snapped in place then rolled in the thick rubber floor mat and that was it. It took me more time installing the tailgate cover than to do the rest. Best of all it’s made in America and they offer a small discount for us military vets (USN). The fit and finish of their product is top of the line.

I feel like the whole “rusted bed because of the drop-in liner” is blown out of proportion. I’ve seen trucks with them and it’s not an issue.

if you wanna worry about rust on a Ram the bed isn’t where you want to worry. You better watch out for your fender lips and lower rockers of anything. And your spray-in liner won’t do anything to stop that.

And on top of that, another benefit of the drop-in liner is that when you toss things in the bed (like landscaping rocks) the liner will take the brunt of the blow better and not leave you with a dented bed the way a LINE-X bed does....ask me how I know.

Here’s a picture of the bed rug impact mat for those that are interested. I’m not in construction so I simply wanted something removable with cushion and a flat surface.

First FULL DISCLOSURE: I have a SEVERE case of OCD. I am worse than Felix Unger (you older members will know who that is). I have had several pickups and used both drop-ins and spray liners. I now have a 2500 and use the bed to carry weight. Yards of mulch, stone, pallets of brick, etc. So its tough keeping it looking pristine. But I want it to look good once its is cleaned out. No rust, no dents. So here is where you will want to have me committed to a mental institution due to my OCD.

Just as all of you who have mentioned the plus and minus of the drop-in and spray liner, I agree what is mentioned about both of them. I have found that the drop-in adds additional "backbone" to the bed and is better at preventing dents. The spay liners stop rust and look better. My 2500 came with the factory spray in liner, BUT............I shopped for a drop in and got a new penda for $189 (this was in 2017). And yes I installed that on top of the factory spray in liner. Best of both worlds. For $189 my OCD is under control and I do not flinch as much when I am loading cement block or a backhoe bucket is dumping stone in the bed. All the while knowing there also will be no rust. This is the second pickup that I did this.

Add in that now I can read threads like this and not endlessly debate with myself about which to use, for me it is well worth the extra money.

Yeah, I couldn't imagine dumping a loader bucket full of top soil, gravel, or mulch on that bed rug. What a mess that would be! They sure look nice but just not practical for anyone that hauls stuff like that.

.
They are actually quite durable and the folks at BedRug have a few videos showing them actually dumping in gravel and even battery acid, then showing how easy it is to power wash clean. check out https://bedrug.com/ or or
And the acid test:

While these look great, I put way too much dirty, nasty, greasy crap in the back of my truck to do this. If I had a cap and did some camping, I'd give her a go, but as it is now, I'd ruin that thing within a month and then kick myself in the **** for not taking better care of it....or more likely, my wife would kick me in the ****.
Take a look at the videos in my post just prior to this reply.

I used Raptor Liner. It's about $120 on Amazon, includes 4 cans (enough for 2 solid coats) and the spray gun, you just need a compressor.

The pic isn't great, but I'm at work and snapped it quick.

Based om how I plan to use my truck, I followed your lead. Did the install yesterday evening. Easy Peasy.

Lots of good info in this thread.

Just traded my 09 1500 Sport for a 20 1500 Big Horn. The 09 had a drop in liner with no issues. Spoke to the Dealer about adding Spray in Liner and waiting on a date. Noticed many unplugged holes in the bed. Do these get plugged before the spray liner? Seems counter intuitive to get spray in and still have open holes in the bed. What about the 5 inch plugged vertical slots by the tail gate? Assuming for bed lighting. Still access later? If not a drop in would be better.
Thanks.

It depends on what you are going for.
Work truck Vs show.
My truck is always loadedd with something and works great keeping stuff from moving around.

I have the Weatherteck

I'm seriously considering this now. How is it holding up? Any issues with water or debris along the bed wall? Thanks!

I have has drop in liners in my previous trucks. All have had dirt and water underneath and my Ford had part of the bed down to bare metal from the years of vibration. I went with the Line-X spray in and went with the color match, I'm very happy with it.

I also got their brand of tonneau cover. Exactly the same as the Bak with a lifetime warrantee.

I realize this thread is old, but don't buy the DualLiner. I took mine out this evening to clean the bed after a year in the truck, and it has rubbed the paint off portions of my bed.
