HI 2020 big horn mgu unit went out back bearing bad . pulled it apart got new bearing cleaned reassembled still not charging noticed on rear cover there is a resolver that got chewed up. anyone ever replace it, it's made in japan Minebea can not find a distributor for it I believe this is the problem not sending a proper signal back .

VR resolvers, angle sensors based on a variable reluctance method, have a promising future mainly for use in controlling motors in automobile-related applications. VR resolvers are expected to find a wide range of applications in the future, such as in electric powered steering, hybrid cars, electric cars, integrated starter generators, brake by wires, steering by wires, and valve controls. That resolver looks like a completely passive device.

Were you able to determine that one or more of the windings has failed, using an ohm meter?

good morning the 10 VRX x3 is correct size there are three lobes for feed back. when the rear bearing went it allowed the shaft to canter into the top of the steel that the windings are around and lobes are worn down . ill try to take it back off and get pics but bottom line is no feed back in my opinion and assumption on my part is it thinks there is no rotation / belt. it is my friends truck the unit's are still a month out. I though if I could get the part and try it it might help others in same situation I had seen the same thing randy posted above my issue is finding a distributor where to buy it from .

Do you have a schematic for an MGU? :cool:

No i don't,but i'm wondering if it could be tricked somehow, into suppling torque for a longer time aka higher engine rpm. I haven't dug into the MGU at all,but i think it turns off at a fairly low rpm

That makes good sense, especially if the part is expensive or difficult to find a replacement.

If we can find a schematic or service manual, there might be a way to fool it into submission. :cool:

in Michigan here a hemi last about a hour in a yard . my friend ordered a replacement. I contacted the mfg. of part they were interested until I told them I didn't need a 1000 of them

so a thought as how to check the 48 volt battery to see if it is good 'bad 'or ugly is any special method on how to do it
