I wanted to add some bed lighting to my truck, but didn't feel like splicing into the factory lighting. Here is the simple solution I came up with. I bought a six pack of these ADX motion activated led pucks from Amazon for $31:
ADX 15LEDPIR-WH LED 140-Degree 12 Meter Security PIR Infrared Motion Sensor Detector Wall Light Outdoor, White, 6-Pack - - Amazon.com
I ended up using four of them in my install. The first order of business was to bomb the lights out with some black Plastidip. I attached two of them to the Retrax canister with Velcro. I used the hook side of the Velcro to attach the other two to my BedRug. I already had the Plastidip and Velcro left over from other projects. Each light uses 3 AA batteries. I'll have to see how long they go in between battery changes. Here are a couple of pictures:

let us know how long the batteries last, should be a while since you have a tauneau cover.

Depending on the sensitivity, anything in the bed of the truck that moved while driving could set those to light off and burn those batteries in a hurry.

How's the sensitivity? Would you recommend these with open beds?

Pretty sensitive at night. Open bed exposed to elements probably wouldn't last.
