The Pulsar listing info says it adjusts pedal response - so why do you need the pedal commander as well?

The Pulsar on 8 is too lurchy off the line for daily driving IMO, but 8 is perfect w/ a Pedal Commander on City +2. The PC is very useful for dialing in just the right amount of throttle response.

Hey guys, I recognize this is not a new thread but I need help and I think this is the right thread.

I’ll start with the facts: I’ve had a pedal commander for about a month with no problems. Yesterday I installed the Pulsar and immediately started having issues. My truck would sort of lock up at low speed and not shift. My rotorary dial would also lock up. The only way to get moving again was to turn the truck off and restart it. Sometimes that would fix it and sometimes it would lock up again. It happened on my way into work this morning in the middle of the road at a red light. I limped into the shoulder and disconnected the Pedal Commander. After that I had no problems at all with just running the Pulsar. The Pulsar worked perfectly by itself but not in conjunction with the Pedal Commander.

Can anyone offer any advice?

Have you tried updating the Pedal Commander via the app?

No I have not. I’ve only had the PC for about a month, maybe 3 weeks and it’s performed flawlessly until I installed the Pulsar.

To eliminate the PC as a possible cause, I would confirm yours is up to date via the app as some have experienced limp mode issues as you described w/ an older version of the software. The stacking effect of running the Pulsar in conjunction w/ the PC may have triggered the error.

I’m willing to give that a try before I sell the Pedal Commander. Do you know if there is a recent update available for the PC?

Ok, I have the PC connected to the phone app (iPhone) via Bluetooth. How do I update it? The PC is powered using a USB cord plugged into the wall. It’s not installed in the truck at the moment. I’m at work.

Sadly, the only pedal commanders that seem to have issues are the Bluetooth one's. Mine is not Bluetooth, and never an issue of any kind.

I've had mine for a few months & noticed there was an update available while looking through the menu tabs. I had no issues before & non after but some have bought early Bluetooth versions w/ buggy code that would trigger limp mode. Hoping that's your issue as the PC & Pulsar are an awesome combo. Level 8 / City +1 on 89 Octane is where it's at. [emoji41]

I don’t see anything like that on my end that looks like an update function. I’m just going to try plugging it back in and see what happens.

Delete the app, re-download it and make sure your have the latest update of the app then repair it to your phone. This has worked for a few people.

I don’t actually use the app to interact with that PC. I just got done working on my truck and I hope I have it figured out. I took the Pulsar and PC off and reinstalled them. Pulsar first and of second. So far no issues. So hopefully it was just a hiccup or a fluke.

With the Pulsar, do you need to remove it if you go to the dealership? If they flash an update to the ECU, will it effect the Pulsar at all? I have a generous dealer, but I wouldn't want to do an update and have it mess things up.

In the initial product vid that Edge released I recall it being stated that PCM updates would flow through the Pulsar w/ no issues but I'm not willing to roll the dice on confirming it.... I remove the Pulsar for dealership visits that involve PCM updates. Better safe than sorry. That said, before the recent software update that enabled speedo calibration w/ the Pulsar, I used Hypertech's calibrator & had no issues flashing the PCM w/ the Pulsar installed.
