You'll need a tune to adjust when the efan comes on/off. The 180 T-Stat is more about the old power adage of cool coolant and hot (enough) oil temps. I run a 180 in my 6.4, but the 5.7 in my truck has a 190. For my usages both T-Stat's fit their application well (Keeping oil temp in that sweet spot right around 212 while keeping the coolant as cool as possible).

If you hook it to the condenser fan wiring, it will come on with the AC and/or when the truck hits around 200 (I believe that the right temp) You'll need a tuner to change the temp it comes on at, but if you're running a stock temp thermostat, there's no reason to.

Grill shutter trucks won't come on until well over 200 unless you're running the A/C.

If your truck is a 2015 you should already have an efan on the truck and if so, it comes on automatically at the low 220's deg.
Changing the stat will not change that, only a tuner will and if your is a 15 I think that also means an unlocked pcm is needed also.

Very minimal gains going to a V6 efan, but it does clean up the engine bay - and not much more.

I always remove the mechanical fan and the grille shutters on my trucks to help aid in cooling. Add a 180* thermostat and get a tuner to control what temp the AC fan comes on at, and you are good to go.

Even the 09-14s have an e-fan, and as far as I know, all the 4th gen 5.7s have an e-fan and mechanical. The 5th gens only have an e-fan.
