My son's 2016 2500 6.7l Laramie is showing a P242D code: Exhaust Temp Sensor Circuit High Bank1 Sensor 3.
Any assistance locating this sensor would be greatly appreciated.

Don't quote me 100% on this but I believe it's the temp sensor on the outlet of the DPF. The EGT sensors do go in sequential order starting at the engine working the way down the exhaust system.Any of the EGT codes can cause the ECM to not run the regeneration cycle so eventually the DPF will plug up.

Thats interesting because he wasn't able to run the regeneration cycle.
So I assume there are 3 of these sensors? Are they easily noticeable and replaceable? Can they be tested with meter? Are all 3 the same?

Sensor 1 is on the downpipe, (pre DPF), sensor 2 is in the middle of the dpf assembly, sensor 3 is after the DPF, sensor 4 is in the middle of the scr catalyst, and sensor 5 is after the scr catalyst.

So sounds like the sensor after your DPF which would probably explain why you couldn't run a regen. (manual regens won't run with emission faults present a lot of times)
