I purchased my 2011 Ram 1500 a little over 2 years ago. On drive home from purchasing noticed lights in the dash cluster going on and off. Dealership made it right, replacing the cluster (and the heated steering wheel that was working intermittently). Within less than 1 year I noticed my RPM gauge flickering and the heated steering wheel was still only working intermittently. The parts were still under warranty so they replaced them again! Day after getting it back the heated steering wheel doing the same thing! They finally figured out the it was the airbag clock sensor causing the issue and I had to pay for that fix. (I think it was that from the get go!) Now more issues...a couple months after new cluster, new steering wheel, and new airbag click sensor I noticed my gas gauge not going ALL THE WAY to full when I would fill up. And then within 20 miles dropping to between 3/4 and full. When down to 1/4 the DTE reads around 180 miles, gauge is obviously not correct! But my bigger issue...a couple times before the new parts, my headlights would stay on after shutting the truck off (knob in auto position) once for over 2 hours before I noticed! Turning the knob to off didn’t work, would have to start the truck, turn to off position and then shut the truck off. Dealership didn’t know why that was happening and of course didn’t do it for them. Also, sometimes the windows would roll down when truck was off! Sometimes only an inch, sometimes half way, sometimes all the way! I associated it to something with the fob as it had happened when I was right by the truck and the fob was in hand, I thought I had maybe pressed both the lock and unlock at the same time? It was also happening when my keys were in my purse after getting home and shutting truck off, and could have gotten pressed up against something when I was carrying stuff inside. I changed the battery in fob a couple months ago and hadn’t happened again, until last night! Came home late from our friends house, noticed my headlights hadn’t gone off but when I went to start it, as soon as I opened the door they went off. Thought all was good BUT this morning, after getting s couple inches of snow during the night, my boyfriend opened the door only to see both off my front windows down all the way and my headlights on, all night!!! And over an inch of snow in both front seats!!!!! I’ve been told by a local mechanic that my gen Ram is known for cluster and electrical issues! Of course the dealership would never tell me that because obviously Ram doesn’t have a solution! I’ve had it! Please help!

Do a lookup on dodge totally Integrated power module (tipm) and see if there are any more wird symptoms you are getting like possibly fuel pump staying on windshield wipers working randomly that kinda stuff.

I think the gauge is an issue on its own possibly a ground or just simply a fuel level sensor on the fritz. But the windows and stuff like that may be tipm. I'm not 100% but it may be something to look into and confirm.

Does your truck for sure roll the windows down with the fob? I know some are hit and miss. I had to Program my 2015 to do the global window down before it'd work.

Im thinking tipm too, seems chrysler has eternally had an issue with these. I know fuel level sensors are a problem also, but i don't know how far that one goes back.

Yeah why they did the tipm idea is beyond me really. The funny thing is even after 1000s of issues they didn't really change it did they lol. Atleast the newer trucks got away from that setup.

I just tried the fob and I couldn’t get it to roll the windows down, no matter the combo of ways I pushed buttons.
I will check into the tipm.
Thank you!

The TIPM, I'm not sure, do you mean they put it all into the BCM now?

I Beleive it's split up now. Bcm pcm and just big relays in the relay box under hood. Don't quote me on that one tho because I Havnt payed a ton of attention to the newer ones.

I have a factory service manual, the wiring diagram shows, its as follows, (exactly as you say or meant to say,) The fuse box under the hood is just that, fuses/relays, all fore mentioned things, wipers, mirrors, horn, cruise, lights etc are ran through the bcm. I actually feel a little better now. I thought we still had the tipm, i guess FCA did fix ONE of the issues with the Rams. :happy175:

From a quick Google search it still shows they use a tipm still. Maybe they got smart and took the higher amperage things out of that stupid wafer board.

From what I just read I think it’s probably the tipm! I have an aftermarket extended warranty but I’m sure this probably won’t be covered because something as important as the airbag clock timer wasn’t! This is BS!
I love Ram but this is just ridiculous...
Thank you Brandon-w and OCDTech!

You're welcome. Glad we could help. It is worth looking into the warranty. If not covered rock auto may have a decent priced tipm.

Your welcome, youtube= tipmrebuilders, they show you how to change and "supposedly" all you have to do is turn the ignition on for 12 seconds turn it off wait then crank. All good, but another guy says it will run and drive but to enable some features of your trim level of vehicle may have to have it programmed.

Good luck!

At the very least i hope this is what they did. By that wiring diagram it is. But they hopefully are just calling the fuse/relay box a tipm still.
