Just curious if I don’t use 4wd often should I at least engage it from time to time? I heard it’s good practice in order to keep “things” lubricated. Any thots or advice? I generally use it during heavy snowfalls that’s about it.

Thanks!

I switch mine on from time to time. I use it during winter on the ice roads. We get the snow blasts starting in late Oct through until Late March early April here and run it once in awhile around town. lol ya good practice to switch it one once in awhile to make sure things are moving accordingly. I don’t think you HAVE to do it though.

You can do it every couple of months, or every month.. if you have 44-45 TC drive couple of miles on a dirt road ,you can also do if it's raining. If it's dry pavement just drive straigth and avoid turning. With the 44-44 use 4auto then it doesn't matter if you're doing it in dry pavement and turning. I think there is something in the manual too. There is no written rule just a good idea to keep your actuators and everything else in top conditions.

You can tell the less you do it the harder the clunk is when you go into gear. Do it at least a couple times a year and do both hi and lo. Go for a short drive. And don't think that transfer case fluid is still red because you do not use the transfer case, that is not the case.

If you use it every winter you're fine letting it just be along for the ride all summer.

So bottom line, during warmer weather engage it when driving in the rain and that should keep everything lubed.
