Masking. Prep is the key. Don’t use blue tape. Find an automotive supply, they’ll have everything you’ll need...

I see it now. The orange stripe does add to the look. I suspect the only person that will notice the imperfections is the guy who did the work. Unless you're getting judged at a car shows that is.

From the photo I cant tell anything glaring. However I know what it is to notice something small during the process or any install and being the one who did it it’s the first thing I’ll then notice.

Which clear product did you use. On my last truck (not a ram) I painted the cover and found the best clear was 2K clear coat. Got it from amazon. Great stuff. Self levels and made the colors pop.

If u end up trying the 2K stuff get a painters mask the filtered one and do it outside or in a very well ventilated area.

I love the look-just think my mechanic is the only guy who would get to see it-neighbors might find it odd to see me drooling over the engine bay. It is a relatively cheap mod though except for all the prep involved. I may have to re-visit the idea. After I paint the living-room ive been told!
