In process of tuning my truck with FRP. I'm downloading the stock tune from a fresh unlocked pcm and get :

Validate checksum failed. File unusable.

This is after it spent 9 minutes and 30 seconds downloading the engine file and 3 minutes 45 seconds downloading the transmission file. Both downloads were successfully completed.

I have mpvi4, fresh from hp tuners, the 2018+ unlock cable from hp tuners and an unlocked pcm, calibrated to my truck.

Truck runs perfectly no codes, but this problem. Anybody ever experienced this and your thoughts on solution? Hp tuners is working on it but it's now with their programmers????

Try downloading again. Checksum fail indicates the number of bytes in file do not match what it is supposed to be on the good file sent.

If that doesn't cure it, contact supplier to check it. Sometimes some ad blockers can interfere with the download.
No joy, 3rd download, same outcome, deleted all apps, deleted any third party programs, virus detection. Downloaded hp tuners for the third time, since they update daily. Different cable. Starting to think it could be pcm

Trying a different older computer later today.

Maybe its because mercury is in retrograde in my rising sign?????

Tuned half a dozen rams, never had this trouble.

Just heard from hp tuners, elevated to engineering, their support team and programmers can't figure it out. Could take a few days

Sounds like your internet is a little on the slow side but you said you have done several tunes.
Just curious if all or any was done at your now location for loading & reading tune.
Makes me think internet connection not linking with HPtuner while trying to read pcm.

If not the above sounds like pcm is still locked out to you somehow.

Well, I haven't tried a different internet, that could be another possibility. I'll try that, can't hurt. Nothing else has worked

Check Wi-Fi signal strength on your phone & laptop in the vehicle.
Rather the ISP....... could just be data from a weak Wi-Fi

Set up a secure VPN connection for the download. Yes, a "Validation Of Checksum failed" error almost always means the file is corrupted, altered, or incomplete. It indicates that the calculated checksum (a unique mathematical signature) of the file does not match the expected original value, meaning the data has changed during download, transfer, or due to storage issues.

When he says download......I'm thinking he means trying to read the PCM
That's when he is getting the validation of checksum failed

Not sure that can be done unless he purchased another license. Most tuners need a fresh license for a different VIN PCM.
One of the main reason I didn't go with HP was the expense for licenses (coupons) of the PCM and TCM. My truck is a peppy grocery getter. If I had a worked 6.4 / hellcat engine in it, that would be another chapter.

If he changes the VIN in the new PCM to what his truck is, then maybe.....

You would think HPTuners would have asked for his VIN when they unlocked his PCM.
But I'm a little confused by his statements......does he have his original PCM & removing it an placing the unlocked PCM & trying to read or write???

That's what I did on mine. Bought a used PCM off ebay for $45 and sent it in for the unlock (was a special on sale deal free when I bought the tuner. Got the Trilogy tuner and PCM unlock for $450 shipped). My OEM PCM is sitting on a shelf in the garage.

So did they right the VIN to PCM or did you?

Confused on all the talk about the internet connectivity. Internet has nothing to do with downloading/uploading a file from the PCM into HPTuners or vice versa.

@Bigskyroadglide you ever hear anything back from HPT?

If it needs to update definitions before it can read a PCM
How do you think it gets???
And term for VCM suite is read/write
Not download/upload

That sounds like a VCM issue, and not a read/write issue. Pretty sure when he said "downloading the stock tune from a fresh unlocked pcm", he was talking about the actual file transfer from the PCM to the laptop, which doesn't require an internet connection.
