How many miles on the rig?

Sounds are hard to describe in written communication.

By knocking, you mean a light, tinny tapping or a heavy, deep knock that is slow, but increases with engine rpm?

Could be piston slap, a bad wrist pin, connecting rod bearing or valve train noise.

If it is deep, slower than the exhaust tone and heavy metal sounding, and otherwise the truck is running fine, you may have a rod bearing going out. Super bad. Time or an engine rebuild.

Don't rev the snot out of it, push it in regards to load or acceleration and you may be able to limp around a while with it doing that, but a major, ugly, expensive and messy situation are in your near future.

Welcome to the board.

I have a valve train noise (Light clicking) on the right side of engine, when the engine is cold, but it goes away as the engine warms up.:waytogo:

Sometimes by cutting open the old oil filter will give you evidence what is being damaged inside the motor.
