Don't be scared to open the hood at your local carwash and wash the hell out of the engine and engine bay.Take some cover-alls and a set of ramps with you to your local carwash so you can get underneath it and wash the bottom side to.You don't park it in a heavy rainstorm,so don't be scared of washing it under the hood and on the bottom side

I'll give that a try. The car wash I frequent has 35 minutes for $7. So I can take my time and really scrub. And the temp issues are at least heading in the right direction? Would like to stop worrying about the temps and get working on the tune up. The money I blew changing the waterpump could have been spent doing the tune up.

Pull the grill and a few shutters out before you go to the carwash, that way you can hose out the condensor and rad a bit better.

Mud coating the radiator acts to block airflow, and just as important, it insulates the metal tubes that the coolant flows through prventing them from shedding heat.

If it were me, I would put the effort into pulling the fan shroud and the grill, and packing some tools along on the trip to the car wash so you easy access to everything.

To be honest, i don't think I'd use the car wash because i'd worry about the high power water jet folding the little foil fins and making **** worse. You should probably just use your garden hose.

Not only should you clean the front and back, but you should remove whatever needs removed so that you can make damn sure that the space between the radiator and AC condenser is clean as well.

If you pull the upper cover (bigass plastic sheet thing that's held in with cheapass clips), you'll be able to peek down in there with a flashlight and see if its all fouled up with dirt and ****.

Clean that **** out. Even if it sucks, is hard, and you gotta spend a bunch of time doing manual labor.

I've used the carwash to clean rads/condensors etc., for years, just don't hold the wand up against the fins, stay back about 8 to 10 inches from them.Ken has a good idea about removing the shroud and blowing the rad out from the back side, but removing the shroud unless you split it and take it out in 2 pieces entails removing the clutch fan,and that can turn into a bit of a job if you don't have an air hammer and the clutch fan wrench .

I have the station to myself tonight so I'll use the hose to carefully clean the radiator and engine. And those cheapass clips are not clipping anymore they just insert and are held in place by hopes and dreams. The whole front grill is now held on by two bolts. All the lower clips are missing and so are the two bolts from the top. Found that out when I removed the shutters. Removed the two upper bolts and the grill just fell out. Would using that condenser foaming **** that is used on the ac units help? Spray it on, let it soak, then rinse it off.

Also was able to drive a steady 70 for a good 25 minutes and the temps are back to the 220~ range. 62 outside with 40% humidity so it shouldn't have gotten that high from a steady drive with no ac. Was in "eco" mode for a good part of the trip too. Oil was also 224 even after the temps came down. Would a clogged oil cooler line cause issues? Should I set the truck on fire, say it was fire ants and claim the insurance? It may be blasphemy but I miss the F150 I sold for this truck. 2014 with 300k miles and zero issues.

Foamy engine degreaser will also work. Either or will help to soften up and loosen any crud in the fins. I'd maybe grab a can of both, use the engine degreaser first,as you can also spray the engine and rad down with it,wash it off, then hit the rad/condensor with the condensor cleaner.

The fins were pretty dirty but thankfully none were damaged. Took my time and really cleaned as best I could. Would spray the condensers and let it soak for awhile rinse and repeat. Also cleaned up the engine as best I could. Did the gravity bleed as it sucked down the level in the reserve. Only a little bubble. Levels have been steady now. I also looked at the backside of the radiator with the thermal camera and didn't really notice any cold spots. It looked pretty uniform. And sadly no change in temps. It was 43 this morning and it hit 220 while cruising to work at 66mph. The temps were way better when I replaced the pump the second time but a few days later the temps returned to what it was in the 220s. I did boil the t-stat just to be sure it was still good, I mean it should be as I installed it a few weeks prior. I'm throwing my hands up in defeat. Could this just be the temp this truck runs at? It's a 192* t-stat so I wouldn't think so. Thankfully it never goes past 224. I also noticed that after replacing the pump a second time the fan doesn't run all the time when the ac is on like it did before. Sitting at a long light on the last warm day I could watch the temp hit 224 with the ac on and hear the fan kick in. Then after a bit the temp would drop to 199.

Is my truck just odd? I mean it does cry black and randomly likes to crank the radio to max. Should I call an exorcist to excise the truck and maybe that will bring the temps down?
