Guys,I've got an issue that I've just recently noticed. My motor has a ticking sound that lasts about 30 seconds after I first start it then stops.Do you think it could be the exhaust manifold bolt issue?

Search the forum for ticking, you'll find plenty of information and posts. It could be that or lifters from what I've read.

Either bolts are lifters, lifters are also dry at start up sometimes. Read hemi tick thread in my sig for solution. Get under truck and check the bolts.

Probably the lifters clacking until they get oil.
If it goes away & stays quiet I'd think this instead of manifold bolts.

Whichever side its coming from reach down thru engine bay or crawl under and reach up and see if your manifold heat shield is loose. If it is, its definitely a manifold bolt snapped off.

Yeah mine does the same noise on startup every now and then. Pretty sure its just no oil on the lifters for the first few seconds, you think anything could be done to keep it from happening? Maybe throw some RedLine in it? :)

if you haven't done so read the thread in my sig, there are things to why redline kills ticks, mainly a formula that leaves stuff on the metal when it's dry and features of base oils that tend to stay on metal as well. That poll is random 50 people with rams who have ran it.

Probably around 100 people have tried redline for hemi tick in the last ten years here at RF, looks like about 1/2 left the forum, those guys have contributed to the testing and recording, they are recorded in the syn thread as well. I'd say the ones that left reported about a 80% success rate, the current poll is about 90% success rate. About 1/2 like myself it took many miles for the plating to take effect, it is the science of EP additives, time and pressure and has to survive the heat. If you get tired of the tick, first thing is to check the bolts, if not exhaust then try redline 5w30 if in warm area, 0w30 if in snow state.

If you decide to try it I will ask you the same thing I ask everyone, to let us know if it was successful or NOT. We just want accurate info, if it ends up not killing the tick, please record it in the poll. Two things, before you vote, rule out exhaust and give it up to 1,000 miles.

Lubegard biotech is poor mans redline, you might want to drop a 6 dollar bottle into your sump now with current oil, see if it changes the tick cadence at all.

moly basics, give that a read. They use moTDC now which is oil soluble moly in oils, so high moly or other high EP additives or oil formulas are the formulas that leave something behind when the oil is off the metal which happens everytime we shut off out trucks. So when you start your truck you might not have oil on it but if you use a product heavy with that additive the lifter will lift smoothly. PQIA has moly levels on most oils, qsud, shell truck and gas, amsoil, redline, PUP 0w40, PYB, Pennzoil High Mileage, are all oils with over 150ppm moly. Lubegard biotech raises any oil about 100ppm in your sump. good luck
