Two things happened today: my truck passed 10,000 miles, and its engine failed.
I have a 2019 1500 Classic Laramie with the EcoDiesel. I was towing a boat up a hill when the engine started a loud clattering noise, but there were no warning or check engine lights. I hadn’t noticed any issues before that.
When I pulled over and came to a stop, the oil pressure gauge dropped to zero and then bounced back to where it had been. When I shut off the engine, I got the check engine light and oil pressure light. I waited about 15-20 minutes and checked the oil - it was full. The engine sounds like it’s totally fried.
While waiting on the tow truck I poked around online and another poster with similar symptoms had a bad oil pump.
The boat and trailer weigh less than 3,500 pounds, and the hill we were on was moderate, at best.
It’s at the dealer now. Guess I’ll find out more tomorrow.
