If you use the search function in the 4th Gen section, which is where you should be posting, you'll find a pile of threads already covering this.

The metal in the oil potentially has been, or will be, distributed throughout the engine. It's tough, without a full tear down, to determine if a rebuild or a replacement is in your future.

You could tear it totally down, inspect the main bearings, rod bearings, cam bearings, cylinder walls, etc.... to see if the block can be re-used in the hopes that the journals in all those areas can still be honed or machined. But tearing down the engine only to find the mains scored and the cylinder walls gouged means you spent a good chuck of money just to determine you can't use the engine.

Generally, most shops usually recommend that a re-manufactured engine is your best bet, financially, and your old engine becomes a core.

Good luck!

The good news is you have perhaps the best year for a ram 1500, especially if you happen to have the 3,92's. Only 1500 with the 65rfe in all models, so good mileage compared to early 4 gens. Low PSI has nothing to do with lifters usually, I don't really know what to make with the mechanics comments. You pop the oil control valve to check if metal in engine. If you have bad lifters or can you get a misfire. low PSI can be many things but usually not lifters. If you have metal in engine you need to replace, the good news is you can do whatever you want to the current engine if that is the case.
