I got to thinking about the different exhaust setups available and thought I would put this out to see what everyone thought. This is more for the lowered truck crowd as many of us don't hang the spare under the truck anymore. Plus this might solve a problem when using a rear mounted turbo. So my thought is to mount a cross flow muffler under the rear of the bed where the spare usually resides. This would free up lots of room under the truck, move some weight rearward and make for a very clean dual dump, behind a roll pan/bumper.

Thanks for the input, those are pipes off of a set of long tubes mounted up forward. I was thinking about moving everything to the rear for the reasons previously given. Thanks,

Think it would be a good set up. Would you try keeping it all on the right side for a dual dump or move it over more of centered?

The cross flow mufflers have a exit coming off of each end so I would think duals centered like on my truck.

Ryan, plenty of room with the spare removed. I have my pipes going through that area. I like my pipes hidden and mounted high so the crossflow muffler would do that nicely. The only down side is I don't know how well they flow. Has to be more restrictive than a straight through muffler.

I was just looking at the muffler you posted up, that was a 23" muffler, so putting that in where the spare is and piped to and from it looks like a tight squeeze by the time you get the piping to and from plus the muffler

Ryan, IDK, looks plenty big enough for everything to me. Inlet comes in over the axle and the exit pipes can be dumped or routed out the sides.

Oh I thought you wanted the muffler and everything right there where the spare is, if you want the muffler over the axel then thats a whole differnt stoy

With the drops on your trucks how much room is overtop of the rear end housing? I wonder what room is left at full compression on the rear and also what ya could tie the system into to give it the support it needs.

No, I am saying put he muffler where the spare is normally mounted. My reference to going over the axle is the pipe coming from the headers to the muffler. I see it as being routed much the same as the normal tail pipe is on a stock truck, but going to the muffler rather than out the side. Believe me there is no room above my axle. lol

This is not in the works for me but I'm about to install LT's with dual cats and keep fighting my muffler location. I have the big Magnaflow pushed as far rearward as possible and just kinda got to thinking that if I wanted more room under the truck what might be done. This looked like it could be a solution. Besides I like stuff setup a little different from the norm.
