Exhaust tips

Can anyone explain if there is a difference between 2.5in inlet/3in outlet/8in length vs a 2.5in inlet/5in outlet/ 12in length? Is there a noticeable sound difference? Was planning on true duel exhaust and having the tips run behind the rear tires. I don't like the way the smaller tips look on my 98 ram 1500, but the smaller exhaust are more budget friendly.

The larger diameter outlets will definitely have a deeper tone, be less raspy.
