I am kicking around the idea to upgrade my stock radio. I have an 18 Express with the 5" (?) headunit now.
Options I am thinking about:
1) Double Din aftermarket radio
2) factory 8.4 radio.
Main things I would like to add- Navigation and bigger display.
Things I have now and need to keep - Backup camera, hands-free, Sirius.
Now, I know there are ways to do both, but I am unsure of what I would all need for both. Which is more cost effective/economical? Which is most beneficial in long run?
I was pretty experienced with working with stereos in the late 90s-early 2000s. I also was a mechanic in the Navy, so I can turn a wrench, so not scared to dig into something.
For resale, clean look, etc I am leaning towards the factory unit. But, then being more budget minded it seems like an aftermarket unit may be cheaper?
I plan on a small upgrade to the stock speakers and possibly a small amp/ 1 sub setup, probably a 10".
