My truck didn't come with remote start and with it being so cold lately I'm thinking I want to invest in it. I've searched and haven't come up with anything really on the mopar remote start add on. I can get it on Ebay for right around 200. Comes with new key fobs and a new hood latch and all. Just wondering if anybody has installed it and what all is involved?

I am going to have the dealer install mine because it also requires a computer flash to wake up the feature.

with the factory start the latch has the safety switch in it. Unlike aftermarket alarms its just a pin switch

Too bad you're not in Texas. I found a dealer selling on Ebay that does free installs of any accessory you buy from them.

That would be great. Maybe i can find a seller in Arkansas like that. I don't really trust stealerships and wish I could do it myself but flashing the comp is out of my skill level

Any special reason you prefer the OEM system to the plug & play after market ones? They're cheaper, install easily and no flashing.

I just wanted it all on my factory key. Do the new aftermarket ones work with them?

yes search the forum in the DIY section.

you can add whats called a dball and the t-harness

Remote Start Kit for 2013 Dodge RAM with DBALL2 THCHD3 T Harness XKLOADER2 | eBay

with this you use the factory remote and press the lock button 3 times and it starts. on top of it you can also add a smart start module so you can use your smart phone to activate it.

Here is an aftermarket how to, I think he says it was $100:

http://www.ramforum.com/f75/4th_gen_remote_start_under_$100-25382/

This link is for an endless thread that has very little info in the 2013 version. The link that baum posted will get you what you need. Several 2013 owners have claimed to have installed this system, but no one has done a how-to on the forum.
The 2013+ install is different, uses a different harness and there is some programming involved. Everything is included in the kit.

As far as the Smart Start,
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Directed-DE...2577?pt=US_Relays_Sensors&hash=item2c780cc031

This just plugs in the remote start kit we're talking about, then you call the seller to activate it. Very simple.

Thanks a bunch guys. I'm gonna order the Dball kit. Looks like the best and easiest alternative

If you get this Dball kit, do us a favor and take pics and notes. No one has done a write up on the 2013+ Dball kits yet, that I'm aware of.

I'd do it myself, but I'm not buying another truck just for a DIY post...lol

I just installed this DBALL2 kit from ebay with no issues. Comes with the T-harness, DBALL2 Module and usb programmer. You do have to tap into 2 wires under the dash (4 wires plus relay for push-button start) but everything else is plug and play. They will give you a temporary user name and password to log into xpresskit.com to do the programming. All in all it took about an hour or so.

Also remember there are 2 different kits. One is for 2009-2012 and the other is for 2013+. I know the 2009-2012 one does not require any computer programming. Sorry no pics as it is already done...
