Finally weighed my beast.

Factory spec’d out 1400lb tongue weight
9900 GVW 3900ccc.

Well that’s off.
Truck pulls trailer very well no complaints.
Just wanted to post so guys know how far factory specs can be off.
And what the 6.4 6 speed can do.

Below are pics of my setup.
Truck weighed with bed empty half tank gas no passengers.

combined weight with the trailer almost completely empty. Fuel station and fresh water on E. Nothing in storage compartment.

After I buy a 4 seat RZR and re-weigh to check tongue weight I might have to buy a larger load distribution hitch to keep some weight on the front axle. Current hitch is 14k Equilizer. Supposedly the tongue weight gets lighter when trailer is loaded. we will see.

Looks good. If you can get some more of the 520 lbs you are missing from the steer axle...i bet you will be even more impressed

I really thought you were going to be much closer to rear axle weight.

Thanks for posting. And when you load the RZR...the tongue weight should go down.

Interesting how light your truck is...mine drives around at about 7400 all the time lol

So you are at about 1700lb tongue weight?

My 2018 2500 6.4 CCSB weighed about 7250 with 1/2 tank of fuel and me in it. The truck is at the dealer for GPS issue and my scale printout is in it but will post it when I get the truck back

You’re light on the steer axle(the reason it’s squatting so much in the rear).

Your hitch needs adjusting.

I would tighten up the wdh a little more to relieve some of the sag on the rear. Too much sag affects handling and wears front tires fast.

yes I know. That’s why I said I may need to purchase a different hitch once I weigh with it full loaded.
14k Equilizer only has a 1400 tongue rating. This it is not stiff enough to transfer weight to the front. It is fairly tight now. I have made 3 adjustments and only gained a 1/2”
In the front ride height.

Mine is a fiver, so it will be different.
My pin weight doesn’t change more than 100lbs with toys loaded. It just becomes a lower percentage(from 23% to ~15%).

@Bldrinker your heavy on the tongue at 1840 lbs or 16.8%
Probably need to move some things around in the trailer to get the tongue 12-15%. The 1400 lbs bars are good for 12.8% tongue per those weight slips.
Being that's a toy hauler, that Razr will lower your tongue as the weight is behind the trailer axles.

@crash68 I was trying to figure this out...as we have 2 different numbers in the thread now.

How did you decide that number?

I get the math...but what about the weight he lost on the steer axle.

He added 2360 to the rear and lost 520 from the steer...is that what you did?

1840 is over the max tongue weight for the hitch...but everything else is good to go, much different than I expected.

Yes I’m hoping when I load some toys in it that it will help. Nothing in it now to move.

Only thing I’m slightly concerned with is the tongue rating on the hitch. Just more of an FYI post do others that think they are good on weight like I was start thinking about their setup.

I never would have guessed I was 1800 on the tongue. lol

I wasn't being a weight police when I asked if you ever weighed it.

The numbers do not lie. You got a great setup...it just needs tweaked.

I know these trucks manhandle these trailers...but once you get it dialed in...it will Godhandle it lol

Thanks again for taking the time to check it out.

I think 1840 is actual tongue weight. Total combined minus what the truck weighs. rear axle went way up because of weight transfer that’s existing truck weight moving around. Which we want to avoid as much as possible.

The steer weight is not used in the calculations.

GCW - truck weight = Trailer Weight
18140 - 7240 = 10900
Trailer Weight - Trailer Axle Weight = Tounge Weight
10900 - 9060 = 1840
Tongue Weight /Trailer Weight = Tongue %
1840/10900 = 16.8%
To back check the math:
FAW + RAW - truck weight unloaded = TW
3580 + 5500 = 9080 - 7240 = 1840

He's heavy on the tongue, once he gets that down the bars should be able to load the front wheels some more.
For moving the trailer around/short distances I wouldn't worry about being over weight on the bars, drive a little nicer and safer.

You might have to put that Razr all the way at the back of the toy hauler, but I think you you'll just squeak by..or just a hair over(enough for the payload police to cry about but I wouldn't lose any sleep over). lol

I sleep well. I rely on the seat of my pants meter. If it feels sketchy it probably is.
