That was my thought, why are you guys changing oil when the motor is so darn hot? I change mine first thing in the morning, all the oil has drained into the pan and the plastic bag trick over the steering works well, no melting...

Changing the oil while hot helps get the oil nice and circulated and helps warm sludge up so it drains easier. In my case I worked for a year as a lube tech at a chevy dealer in high school and then again for another year at a Ford dealer after college, so there was no opportunity to let the engine cool off. If your lucky you will get backed up so they sit in the parking lot for a half hour and cool off a little but most of the time the time between a car pulling into the parking lot and customer leaving was 10 to 25 minutes.


It is not even remotely difficult to reach or remove.
