I have JBA shorties on my '98 Ram. What I did was to hook up each header to 2" exhaust pipe and run them all the way out to the back of the truck, so it is true duals, from the engine all the way back, with no mufflers or cats. I'm pretty sure you'd love the sound of this setup, it's a loud and aggressive crackling roar during acceleration, mellowing to a throaty rumble when cruising or idling, and the performance increase was noticeable. This setup will also yield the greatest increase in fuel economy if you can keep your foot out of it and not take advantage of the increase in horsepower and torque. The only thing you will have to do (or have done) is to weld an O2 sensor **** in each pipe for your O2 sensors to screw into so the truck will run properly. (depending on what year your truck is, you may have 1 or 2 oxygen sensors) I get compliments on the sound all the time, I think people in this day and age aren't used to that full bore unmuffled hotrod sound anymore. I think if you go with this setup, you'll have that aggressive sound you're looking for. It's a shame that a lot of people live where emission laws keep them from installing true duals without converters or restrictive y pipes. These "street legal" exhaust setups rarely offer much in the way of performance or fuel economy gains.
