I have a 2016 Ram Quad Cab 4x4 Laramie. It has the flip out floors in the back, under the seats. I was going to put my subs from my old truck in it, but the fold out floors are in the way, so I decided not to go that route. I was thinking I could cut a flat board to fit, add the subs to that board, and place it securely on top if the storage chambers there below the seats. Basically use the storage chambers for the enclosure, sealed on top by my flat board and subs, making the top flush like it is now. Has anyone tried this or something similar?

it will not sound good as the storage compartments are not sealed or strong enough to keep from flexing with the bass.

if you can find an IB (infinite baffle) sub this may work. back when i was in the business i would do set-ups like this all day in BMW that didnt have a factory sub. i would put the sub in the rear deck mounted to a piece of wood.

Is that similar to what they used to call a free air sub?

If he goes IB he still has to make sure it is sealed to separate the waves.

Yup, or have cancellation issues.
I may consider doing this. This is a Silverado our guys did, but same general idea.
