Kristin I think what he means is he has a stock truck with a gap of 4" front and 7" rear. He wants a drop so he only has 1 or 2" gap front and rear

The flip kit is one thing but you have to have different shackles because if you use the stock shackles with a flip kit you will get a 6-8" drop in the back...

Yeah because the stock shackles are way short compared to the ones in a kit, so the shorter the shackle the lower the drop and anything more than a 5", you need to cnotch the frame

When i lowered my 88 Ranger i used a flip kit on it but never welded it and never had any problem. I had never heard of needing to weld it to the perch before i got on here. Hemibabe is right though it will slam the back end real fast!

When i did my ranger they didnt have c-notch parts so it rode on the frame and talk about a rough ride!!

Depends on how low you want to go! But make sure you lower the front to or you will be driving around with the truck looking like you have a big load in the bed!

That's what I have... You can buy the shackles separate and then you'd need 2" drop coils for the front.

I actually used your truck as a point of reference.

Found a kit on the e store bay that does 2/4.5 drop for $366 free ship. Looks like a pretty good deal.

Where would u buy shackles and how do u know the height needed to achieve a 5 inch rear drop? Any info would be greatly appreciated as this is my next mod before and bumper cover and trifold bedcover.

OK. If you are trying to piece it together you will need the longer shackles with to go with the flip kit, like these: {Not the short shackles!}
GRP-5310_3.jpg

But you will also need the perches for the leafs to be on once you do the flip kit like this:
CIMG2913-1.jpg

And here you can see the shackles I have are longer compared to the OEM ones which is what you'll need to get, don't get the short drop shackles
CIMG2908-1.jpg

Here's where you can get them:
Lowering Parts - Lowering Shackle Kits By DJM

On Dodges, once you flip the leaf spring under the axle, you need a longer shackle, if you keep the OEM short ones, you will get a 8" drop or so.
