Good afternoon guys,
my question for the day.... as some of us truck tinkerers love to work on our trucks... sometimes we need to lift them to get underneath or remove a tire...so what are your recommendations? Obviously the jack that comes with the truck just sucks ass and takes forever to jack up

I just installed bilstein 5100 shocks so it sits a little higher... an my Girlfriend has an SUV so I need a jack that can get a little higher.

Any thoughts, suggestions, ideas? I have a old hydrolic 2 ton generic jack that I gout from pepboys that worked great with m 2006 charger RT that sat low, but with 2012 ram 4x4...that's not gonna work. I stopped at pepboys and they had jacks that went up to 19 inches and I don't think that it will get my tires off the ground.

I have a 3 ton floor jack and jack stands. I refuse to do anything without a jack stand. I did have issues getting my truck high enough with the 3 ton jack though so I use 6x6 blocks of wood to get it up high enough then set the jack stands.

I was just searching about this topic. I have a 3 ton floor jack that i use but with a max lift height of only 20 inches i was looking for something larger. I guess people use blocks of wood to increase the lift height? What do you do put a wood block on the jack plate?

Yeah, I just put about a 18" long block of 6x6 on the plate and run it up to the frame on the truck. Works great. Just be sure to chock the wheels and get it on the jack stand. I wouldn't want to be under it that way, though I wouldn't get under a vehicle with just a jack either.

3 Ton Minimum. Gotta Watch the 2 tons even on an LX, I threw one away a few weeks ago because it bent sideways. And agree always use a Jackstand for Safety Back-up if you are going underneath when any of the tires are removed.

I'm from Ohio, so I'm willing to bet it very well could be. I've seen worse. Lived in a city years ago and watch a guy pull his motor parked on the curb, lol. :laughing1:
