When I was looking at pulling the cab on my truck I was going to form a brace out of 2x4s to lift the cab and set on them and slide the frame out from under it. Almost like a sawhorse setup

Also. You may be able to get someone with the proper flare tool to cut and redo the ends on the brake lines? I have a shop by me that does custom lines and fittings.
Edit: my bad. You said parking brake. I missed that

Thought about that but I'd have to turn the truck around or lift it high enough to clear the engine.

Was originally going to lift it with a 2 ton engine hoist and move it onto saw horses.

Had my helpers remove the cab bolts today. Also removed the hvac unit and passenger doors. Looked over everything and I am pretty sure I've disconnected all the wires and hoses that I needed to. Just need some saw horses and I can pull the cab.bd56adbf3ce2ef326fe2376c7634a4a0.jpg10245cf7e841d7fcfecd25ba95293889.jpg

Painted the bottom of the cab and the driver's floor. Have a small rust repair to make on the driver's side rocker0ba0afd587590ff00a182b63edef56fd.jpg5af0638c39e1df4c69cb3c9e64e9ff5f.jpg341c0937ff82d207c455a1f6dca5653f.jpg

The metal clips for the fuel line that runs from the tank to the vapor canister were rotted away. The holes were the perfect size to use some extra bolts and plastic clips to mount the line.

Also mounted the track bar and bracket. Had to drill a hole through the bracket so that I could secure the brake line since the bracket covered the existing hole.

Started mounting the steering box and brace, should have that finished tomorrow and will snap some pics.f6fd20539a875209231d49305b26ab97.jpg67dcefdefc1123f8044b5705617bd0cb.jpgfa3074c1e5087686cb2e70e7cc7eaa29.jpg46da696efad44f6695ccbf40f858cce2.jpg

Here is the reason I had to stop driving my truck. This little guy fell out again. The first time I paid a shop to fix it without realizing how easy of a fix it was.ddd4dfb379f4b0dd01fb0d3c492f0224.jpg

So I got the engine moved to the new frame on Sunday. Also, managed to break the screen on my phone which is why I was unable to post anything earlier. Have some more parts showing up soon. Hoping to get a lot done over the next 7 days 608eb8818c220c6675f5b9cec0ba425c.jpgc8783b9447eb5037658768637bd6f992.jpg0ac9f8b66522bcad77aa0314f3da4db7.jpg

So I'm debating whether I should replace the head gaskets or not. Already replacing most of the other gaskets. They're not leaking but since I have it ripped apart I figure I should do them.

If you pull the head gaskets you can see how bad the heads look inside. Maybe give them a quick cleaning with a scrubber or rough sponge and degreaser. Maybe it’s not a bad idea if it’s high enough miles so you don’t have to worry about the coolant ports leaking.

If it were me I would go ahead and replace the head gaskets and plenum gasket while I had easy access to everything. You should also inspect all of the freeze plugs as well.

How would I determine if the freeze plugs need replaced?

In your pic looking at the rear of the engine the freeze plug on the left looks rusty. It would really suck to have it leaking after a couple of months with all your work. You can get a kit with all the freeze plugs from RockAuto for less than $15.
In the end the decision is yours.

Got one head off. Cleaning off the old gasket and going to try to clean up some of the build up on the piston.98bb28a89e85fb88b04e283066785a26.jpgd05cf3fd348e4e58bcebf0d9d0843c72.jpg

So the 2 on the back of the block look like they were replaced at some point. Will probably just replace the others to avoid any issues since a few look kinda rusty
