Front pad change. A little surprised.

2023 Bighorn 4X2 5.7L. I was experiencing what I considered a soft brake pedal and also noticed that my brake fluid level was down considerably. I decided to change the front pads with 61,200 miles on the truck. I was rather shocked when I pulled the first set of original pads off. They look damn near brand new. I went ahead and changed both front sets and my brake fluid level did come up almost to where it should be and the brake pedal feels better. I was definitely expecting more wear on the original pads.

They seem to last really well. I wonder what the pads cost you? I'm about to replace mine and I just looked on like, one site had genuine oem mopar pads for $833 and another claiming oem pads for $157. I want to use original equipment but $833!!

Anyone else stuck in Brake service mode? 2019 5th gen Ram. I think this is a new problem that Chrysler knows about. So far not an easy fix for the home mechanic.

I am going to put Powerstop pads front and rear on my wife's Grand Cherokee. The OEM rear pads only lasted about 45,000 miles, and she is not hard on vehicles. The Powerstops I got from Rockauto and if I remember right they were like $70 U.S. a set, so $140 to do both ends. Even the package deals that included new rotors and pads for front and back were only about $220, so $440 to do front and back. I like OEM parts for the most part but no way would I be paying $900 for OEM pads. My rotors are fine so going with just pads.

@Rado Are the Wagner's really a NO DUST? I put PowerStops on my trucks many years ago, no complaints. Due for new pads and was going to go with PowerStop again. But, there is still some dust to deal with, not bad but definitely more cleaning in the front than rear. I hate cleaning my front rims. If my front rims would look like the rear with Wagners, I'll go with those.

I really did not notice dust but I am sure there may be a light amount
The rim were easy to clean but I am also light footed on the brakes !
I am sure how the brakes are used may give different results
I also DO NOT tow
I also use WAGNER E Coated Rotors

Ok. I might give them a shot. As long as they aren't putting off more dust than what I already have, I won't be disappointed. I do have drilled and slotted rotors on both trucks, Sooooo, I'm gonna see some dust.

My WAGNER E Coated rotors are smooth not slotted and like you said the slotted ones may cause a bit more dust but my guess not bad !
