Techron is no longer PEA - scroll up. Only Red Line PL-1 and CRC use PEA anymore. It's expensive.

Remember that Techron was trademarked by Chevron, a huge corporation, who knows what their direction is anymore.

In today's news, ConocoPhillips, which used to be separate corporations, want to buy Marathon Oil. Pretty soon we'll be back to the Standard Oil Trust and we'll get what they tell us is good for us.
Have you used Redline? have you noticed performance and mpg differences?

And............(dum, dum, tiss) there is no such thing as uniform 89 octane gas. It's a blend of 87 and 91. I use 91 top tier. Where top tier is rare, such as up here in the hinterlands, I carry a measure bottle of PEA with me and spike 1 ounce per 15 gallons gas (calculated dosage from mfg ratios). Instant "Top Tier" gas!
what PEA are you using?

This has received a lot of interest here, Red Line SI-1...

^Keep in mind that link is the price to (2) 15oz bottles, each good for 20 gallons of gas.

Also, when shopping for Top Tier gas, AAA rated Shell the #1 for additives, I *think* Exxon was number 2. If you Google you might search to AAA top ten for additives, then check that list against your area.

I only have Sunoco by me. At 108,000 miles I just added 2 bottles of the SI-1 then filled the tank with 89 octane Top Tier.
I can offer no science or gauges but I swear the idle is noticeably smoother and the gas pedal in more responsive. I'm about 1/3 down from full with this mixture.

Many folks recommend doing this kind of "cleaning" the full tank right before an oil change. Some of the additive will find it's way into the oil. Run the gas tank near empty, fill it back up with your best gas, then do an oil/filter change.

If you are that interested, and it seems like you are, keep posting what you're doing and any results you see as you go. We all add to the library of experience here.

thank you for the reponse. I just got my truck and new to all of this. I am running top tier 87 as for many of the stations don't carry the 89. manual says 87 is fine to use oppose to 89. this is the reason for wanting to add the additive. How often do you add this to your tank? some say 1 a month..... seems like you are seeing better performance.......how about fuel consumption?

Fuel economy seems about the same but keep in mind I've only used about 1/3 tank of this mixture.

This is the first additive of any kind, oil or gas, in 108,000 miles.
If I can trust my butt-dyno, the Hemi seems to like the 89 octane better than the 87, and about the same as the 91 octane.

Consider that I'm retired and mostly do short trips, 10-20 miles per day and 30mph - 45mph. It's taken me almost 2 weeks to use that 1/3 tank, so I'm not the typical test subject.

I'm jealous of all y'all. Californian, no choice for ethanol free, no choice for any octane higher than 91. We have 10% ethanol most of the year, and then we get"summer blend" at 15%. I get my top tier at Costco, so only choices are 87 or 91. Of course I run the 91. I also use a bottle of Techron every 4-5k. Can't tell you if it's better than no additive, as I've always run my cars like this

Same here in agri-bribery Minnesota. Here it's not an ignorant tree-hugger thing, it's an actual state legal requirement by lobbyists given money to lawmakers. It sucks.

Oh no, U did not beat me to it. I shall Neva enter that race, LOL. U might get away with it in NJ, not in TX, lol. U get out on IH 35, and starting speeds are 60-70, most are running 85 MPH and up, not like the GSP or Turnpike, lol.

Last time I was on GSP they were still doing quarters in the baskets. Was home in 2018, but I had cut across on 76 over the Walt Whitman to 195 across and down to the "shore", so that should give U an idea of my mentality, roflmao. DO miss the boards. Came North west side, wanted nothing to do with I 95, I know betta.

I have a tune for 93, the Costco near me only has 87 & 93, my tuner asked me twice to be sure I wanted the 93 instead of 91.
I’m in VA, I wonder if it’s a state by state to decide what octanes they have/sell.

I've wondered this myself. Here in Minnesota pump gas max. octane is 91.

CA has been limited to 91 octane since 2001. They claim that lower altitude is denser air, requiring lower octane, which is B.S. since Florida has 93. They also claim environmental impact from processing higher octane, but me thinks somebody has lobbied for this nonsense

The lower the altitude, the higher the octane requirements,if you go up in altitude, then the octane requirements decrease. All due to barometric pressure.Lower altitude generally has higher barometric pressure,so Momma Nature can shove more air into the cylinders, consequently increasing cylinder pressure, when the spark plug fires off the mixture, the higher pumping pressure can also increase the detonation factor.
Somebodies feeding the general public a line of BS,lol
