I'm having a problem with my fuel filler. 2014 tradesman 1500 4x4. Bare bones work truck. I cannot get the pump nozzle into the filler in any way that will let me pump more than a few cents worth of gas before the air pressure kicks it off. I gave up after 3 gallons because I don't have all day to stand there and trickle gas into that hemi's tank. Has anyone else had problems like this? Is it an issue that there is a fix for? I just went through a year of chasing chronic check engine light evap issues, I don't want to damage anything. Thoughts???

Isn't there a TSB or recall for an updated fuel filler neck for 4th gen Ram 1500s because of this issue?

Having same problem, fuel cutting off before full. Suspect that the roll-over check valve is the problem. I believe that it is sticking over time. I used a 1/2 " diamater air hose with 1/4" npt female connector on one end. Run this down the gas filler hose, until you feel it connect to the check valve," The female connector will capture the top of the spring return stem". Gently push on the hose and you will feel the valve open against the return spring. Push and release a dozen times, will hear the valve closing, this should clear the fueling problem. If not repeat the procedure several times. May have to repeat over time if the valve begins to stick again.

I've seen where it was as stupid as a spider web or nest that clogged filler vents on customers vehicles causing the same issue. Not saying that's your problem but it definitely sounds like there's a venting issue with it.

Update: 2019 Ram Classic Standard Cab 6 ft. bed, 26 gal. tank. Very slow refueling, keeps cutting off before full. Found that the spring on the "roll-over" check valve was my problem. Can be fixed without removing the tank. Very tight space, but can be done. Remove, "if installed", left wheel well liner. Forward wheel well brace. Gain access to the tank fill inlet by removing the rubber filler hose, "two hose clamps". also disconnect rubber hose to vent canister for working room. The roll-over valve is part of the the tank and can just be seen at the top of the tank. A very fine tensioning spring is used to close the valve. To remove the spring, use an angled scribe point to "snag" the top coils and carefully unwind the spring. The top spring retainer will keep the valve from falling into the tank. The valve will still close, in the event of a roll-over. Reinstall all removed items. If getting splash back while refueling, reduce the automatic fill rate.

I think it is strange
when you have something going on with your rear differential, it seems the dealership is told by Ram Headquarters to switch out the Drive Shaft as the first step.

When it comes to the Fuel System
They are told to switch out the Filler Neck first
Then when that does not fix the issue, they are told to change out the fuel tank.

I would like to know what they do with all those perfectly good parts

I would bet that if the dealership were to drop the fuel tank & switch out the Roll Over Valves, they would save a ton of money

I had the same issue and GTYankee is spot on. First they changed the filler neck. That did nothing. Then they changed the tank. Problem solved. It was the 26 gallon tank in my 2018 Big Horn Hemi and was covered under warranty.

Brother the money is in the sickness, not the cure. I would bet you $20 to a bucket of chicken that all those hood parts are sitting around the dealership bay storage area & when a customer needs that same tank or filler tube they just put the one they took off mine or your truck…. These ******** are tricky.

I joined the Fuel Filler Clicker Club this month. When this blessing was first bestowed upon me, I tried 8 different brand stations around town, deployed 9 different pump angles and various flow rates when dispensing fuel with the same dadgum results: Range of 25-30 minutes to pump 2/3 tank of fuel.

The local Dealer I purchased my truck from had to deploy the Company playbook and replace the fuel filler neck first as I expected, the Technician even noted on the repair work order that after repair, the truck "functions as designed". Boy, did that gentleman tell the truth!

I picked my truck up and drove 1/2 mile down to the Shell station and found out my Clicker Club membership had been renewed. Drove back to the dealer, personally observed the warranty/service manager put in a warranty request order for a new tank. The manager said to expect it to take " a while" as they weren't able to source a tank locally and due to the dreaded supply chain disruption I'm in the wait line.

With all that said, I am still riding better than in the 2018 GMC Oiler Special I previously/owned traded for my 2021 1500 Limited! I feel better now!!! :)
