I owned a 2022 Limited Hemi E-Torque, 2025 Tungstem HO and now have a 2025 Ford Raptor with the Ecoboost HO.
I have hand calculated the first, approximately 11-12k km fuel economy.
I know the Ford is not a direct comparison but is lighter than the Tungsten and is 90 hp less than the SST HO.
22 Ram all summer driven, 25 Tungsten winter and the Ford fall.

US MPG 22 Ram 15.572 L/100km 15.105
US MPG 25 Ram 17.607 L/100km 13.359
US MPG 25 Ford 14.923 L/100km 15.762

The SST HO is a clear winner. I am really looking forward to getting back into a 26 Tungsten as soon as they build it!

The actual number of Etorque problems compared to the number on the road is definitely no worse than the blue oval and bow tie "green" systems on the road, and most likely a lot less, considering that over 105k Etorques were sold in 2019 alone. What we see here about Etorque is only a few sour grapes, and not any kind of a snapshot of the actual reliability. The truth be told, with the number of electronic components in these new trucks now it is amazing that there are not more problems. Let's face it, tech sells, and the government wants the manufactures to eek out every mpg they can get to stay in business. I like mine, and more than a handful on this forum like theirs also. If you don't like the technology because you had a problem, great. Sorry for your issue. But, if you hate the technology because of what you heard, p!$$ off. Many of us here and out there in the real world will, and would get another one.

um, I wasn't referring to issues, go back and read what I said with the OP's numbers. Now that you mention it yeah there is problems, but also real world numbers e torque doesn't accomplish fuel numbers. The number of trucks sitting in dealerships without a possible repair was so bad it forced stellantis to develop a mobil service, their words not mine. Have a wonderful day

all good boss I deserved it

I also did mean who buy them going forward not those who own them, for what that's worth. It's a bad deal this e torque in practice, good in theory, bad in real world at this point. Prius, those guys did hybrid right, never heard so much as a mouse fart about that brand hybrid.

As any technology can be either bad or good. We all take the chance when we purchase anything techy .
I purchased knowing that new tech is a gamble.
Fortunately, I see gains when in stop and go traffic, and mine works flawlessly.

I admit to being conflicted about my next truck either being a 5.7 with eTorque or a Hurricane with turbos and direct injection.

But the comment before this one made me realize that fuel gains with an eTorque 5.7 likely wouldn't affect me much because most of my driving miles are on country roads or interstate where Start/Stop is hardly used. If I drove a lot in city type driving it might make a difference.

Dusty

I was in the same conundrum, got the 5.7 with etorque cause I love the Hemi, and I feel slightly vindicated knowing the hurricane has been having some problems. But test drove both, and that Hurricane is no slouch, it was pretty damn fun actually. But Hemi with ZF seems like the most stout combo you can get in a half ton nowadays
