So have a 2018 2500 SLT Outdoorsman with Off-Road package. Could have swore I saw somewhere it was a 32 gallon tank but just looked at my window sticker and there is no mention of tank size on there which tells me it must be the standard one? What got me thinking was the last 2 times I filled it up my low fuel light was on. Yesterday it only took 22 gallons and the time before I think it took 25 but looking through my fuelly.com there were a few times where I noted I put 27 gallons in but there have been times where I dumped in 5 gallons from a can during the week. Yesterday I paid .10 for gas with fuel perks so filled up my gas cans and use them up every once in awhile so they don't get old...lol.

So is it a 25 gallon? or 32 gallon? Oh, and 6'4" bed

Likely 32 gallon but light comes on around 25 gallons used (so, 7 left). Lots of talk of this years ago and even some promises for Ram to update and reprogram but I don't think that ever happened. I think I put 28 gallons in mine once so I'm pretty sure I don't have a 26 gallon tank. I just assume it's 32 and hope to never find out :)

lol. Yeah pretty sure it's 32 but thought it would say that on my window sticker and thought it was odd that my light came on so early

2015 1500 with 32 gallon tank. Light comes on at ~60 miles. Typically ~20 MPG. So tank should need ~29 gallons.
- Normally takes 25 - 27 gallons.
- Have put in ~29 gallons.

Guessing the variable is the computer guesstimating remaining miles to empty. FWIW, rarely drive to low fuel indicator coming on.

Looked through my manual last night and under capacities for the 2500 it says 31 gallon so there must not be any other option. Mine comes on about 50 miles to empty but I rarely ever run it that low either. Usually 1/2 tank I fill it up unless I have a bunch of fuel perks

Pretty sure there is only a 31 gallon tank available in the HD trucks (no 32). Really needs to be a bigger tank option available for the standard HD trucks (especially in the gas truck). That's one of the big reasons I got rid of my gas 2500. I was only using about ~23 gallons (give or take) before the fuel light would come on. Given the truck was getting ~12mpg I'd be lucky to go 300 miles before the light came on. Very frustrating.

Yeah don't trust those lights - it sounds like most of you guys who fill up when it comes on are pretty consistent, so at least Ram set theirs conservatively.

Ford, I think, tends to be more aggressive - my dad has an '08 Superduty, and as with every vehicle he ran it until the light came on to see how much fuel it would take at that point. It claimed he had 50 miles to empty...and that's when it shut off. Towed it to the station, filled up with diesel, went through the entire procedure to reprime everything per the manual...nothing. Ended up getting the dealer to come get it, run the ACTUAL re-priming procedure that wasn't in the manual, and everything was fine after that.

He's never let that light come on again.

Supposed to be a 31. I ran mine out at 28.5 once thinking I should be able to get 31 plus a reserve out of it. Going by the miles until empty on the fuel guage 26 27 is empty.

I never go too far below 1/4 tank.
Have yet to have the light come on.
I rarely fill up either. I just $20 it to death. Haven't gone on any long trips with it yet either. Maybe a few 200 mile round trips. No idea what the mpg's or dte would be long distance.
I did do a quite a few NY to FL trips with my '02 4.7 and I was getting around 300 miles on a full tank. But again, never pushed it. When it got to 1/4 tank I'd fill up. But I think that has a 25 gallon tank. I guess I would get around the same with bigger motor-bigger tank?

Those are for the Cummins according to the ad. I’m not sure if they can be modified for the gas
^^° this
There is an extra vent mounting holes in the gasoline tanks. Also gasoline expands more than diesel fuel, and require more expansion room in the tank for the fuel and vapors(diesel fuel doesn't have the vapors like gas) The extra capacity tanks from Titan and S&B most likely don't have this added expansion capacity or vent mount.

.

Mine has a 32-gallon tank. So says the build sheet, window sticker, and the fact I put 31.7 gallons in it in Salina, KS two years ago pulling the fiver. That was a nail biter. My average 10 mi/gal dropped to 7 in eastern KS. It ticks me off they didn't stick with the 35-gallon tank my 2001 1500 had. Hope I didn't take life off the fuel pump doing that.

According to the 2018 manual, the shortbed HDs have 31s, but the longbeds have 32s. If Titan or S&B would sell 50-gallon tanks rated for gas, I'd be the first in line to get one. I couldn't even make it from Salina to Colby on one tank last year (200 miles) because of the wind.

COME ON GUYS! It's not the size of the tank that matters... it's how you use it! :laughing1:I like you RodeoRam would love to see a reasonably priced 50 gallon come out for the gassers. Someone on here added an aftermarket bed tank to their gasser awhile back. I am considering doing that. He had a little trouble with it at first but had it working fine the last time I checked. It REALLY does make ya nervous pulling a fiver around not knowing where the next fuel station is & how far you can actually go.

I bought a 2016 2500 Hemi this December so still getting used to the range. This last weekend did a trip pulling a medium size trailer and had the light come on twice....remembering seeing the gauge at about 1/4 tank and thinking I had a little ways to go and then all of the sudden it was on E and the light came on. The second time I was trying to get to a station that would take the 50 cents/gallon fuel points and ran around 20 miles with the light on. Took under 28 gallons to fill so around 3+ gallons remaining. That would correspond to the above comment that the light usually comes on with around 50-60 miles remaining (drove 20 miles + should of have around 30 miles left with 3 gallons). Of course the mileage you have left is all estimated based on the recent average fuel economy....so keep that in mind if you just spent the last 100 miles cruising down a flat interstate, and thenpull off on a back road running up a mountain range. The low fuel light will come on based on thinking you have 50-60 miles left if you were still getting "good" fuel mileage cruising down the interstate and not the sudden change in driving style!

My 2017 3500 chassis cab 6.4 has 54 gallon tank stock, but my frame is longer to allow for 9 foot bed. You might find one at a junkyard, but you will lose the underbody spare tire.

'14 2500 SLT Mega Cab with the 6.4 HEMI. 31 gallon tank. Light comes on between 25 and 35 miles to go. Average ~12 mpg on the freeway ( usually doing 85 in SoCal) and ~7 on the trails. I wish they had a larger tank option. Usually fill up every 4 work days.
