This is why my S8+ was replaced with another iPhone. It seems to be isolated to all the Samsung garbage and lack of core OS updates as my S8+ never worked right in my '17 Challenger or with the ILX-207 that's in my Ram. Compared with a friends Pixel and that worked flawlessly. I had gotten it to work better by de-bloating the phone and killing bigsby, but the fact that Samsung doesn't update the core OS while Android Auto gets updated via the play store seems to be the main issue. I've had phones from just about every one of the manufacturers(Between work phones and my compulsion to swap gadgets around) and if you want all the advertised crap to work right it's pretty much Pixel in the Android Camp or get an iPhone.

My s9+ is having issues, with my aftermarket radio AND with the stocker in the '19 i had as a loaner. Android Auto shows up on my phone, but I can't get it to show up on the head unit. I thought I read it was an issue with the OS for all of the galaxy phones.

Galaxy S8+ here working flawlessly with the UAS radio. I also travel regularly and have had zero issues with it in any of the numerous rental cars I've had with Android Auto.

I have an S8+ up here in Canada and I noticed it is hit and miss most of the time. Some times the phone will detect and launch AA, but the dash will throw a warning saying it was disconnected. When I first synced it up, I had the damnest time trying to get the audio from my phone to go through the car rather than just speaker on my phone.

But I guess that's what you get when every manufacture puts their own spin on an open platform.

I had the same experience. Hopefully this will be resolved with the new pixel I have coming.

It just received an update yesterday and afterwards it was really bad. I was in the middle of a call and it decided it didn't want to talk to my cell via bluetooth or AA, even after shutting off the engine, opening the door and making sure it powered down, it didn't want to link up. This morning everything worked as it should, so hopefully the update eventually fixed it all.

Was the update to AA or your S8?

to AA even though I happened to check right before (because I was on this thread and was curious if I needed one) and the website said it was up to date.

Well I've had my pixel 3xl since the 18th and it's been amazing to use with my Ram. flawless interaction so far. Even connected to my drive and save insurance device which my Galaxy S8 never did.

Pretty much mirrors the testing I did when my S8+ was giving me hell with AA. Only went iPhone due to the issues that were occurring with Pixel 2's at the time and the fact some of my financial apps work better on iOS. Not having all the OEM/Carrier OS dicking around with truly makes a difference in the Android world. Some of the other OEM's are way less guilty of doing bad things, but carriers always find a way to make sure the experience is jacked with on carrier branded phones.
