So, I know the 2500 5.7 w/ 6 speed tends to require a little extra 'push' to downshift, always wants to hold that higher gear too long BUT, I've been noticing something I don't think is typical, wanted to see if anyone else has this problem.

I typically feather the gas as much as I can but lately I've noticed when I'm doing ~40 MPH and I start to go up a hill my truck will do a strange gear search until I press hard enough on the gas. I assume it's swapping gears because the RPM's change, it may swap 3 or 4 times (up / down) in the span of 3-4 seconds (or until I press hard on gas). This is all while running empty and not using tow / haul. Do I have an issue or is this typical?

The same things happens to me. Almost like the tranny can't make up its mind. I've just learned to press the gas a little harder when I know it's going to happen. I've mentioned in a different post that driving this truck is like learning to drive all over again. Still love it though

Another thing to add is on my daily route there is a hill it happens on every time. If I put it in tow/haul mode it won't search for a gear

Yea, I have a hill on my commute it does it on every time. Seems to only happen when tranny is cool, after I'm up to temp it doesn't do as easily. I was with my wife Sunday AM and it did it to the point I thought she would say 'what the heck is your truck doing?' but she didn't notice it. Still shifts way better than my POS 2014 Silverado did!
