Gear selection without tow/haul mode engaged

I never was aware that I could select gears when not in tow/haul mode. I recently had my 1500 Zeibarted and after that my gas mileage dropped about 2MPG. I couldn't figure out how that should affect the mileage. One day I bumped the gear selector switch on the selector lever and found out that I had been in 5th as my top gear instead of 6th (6 speed trans). Someone at the Zeibart shop must have changed it and I never realized it.

If I'm not mistaken, the gear selection resets itself any time you put it in park and/or turn the vehicle off.
The Tow/Haul mode turns itself off when the truck is turned off.

^correct. Rick, you must have been in 5th at the time you bumped the switch, which will display the current gear and limit to that.
