Now that I have 35s on my 2013 1500 4x4 i'd like to do a gear swap. I do not tow much. Just looking to have that Hemi power back. Reading through posts some are swapping the front diff housing from older model trucks. Is that necessary? Can I just swap the same ring a pinion ratio front and back? I'm not sure why people are swapping the entire front diff housing along with the gears. I'd also like to put in an LSD while i'm in there. Recommendations on ratio would be great too. I'm thinking 4.56 might be to much but I also don't want to regret anything after the fact.

I believe 2013s ring gear was welded in, 2014+ not. At least that's what I read a while back.

From what I understand it's welded in and will cost 3-4000 for the swap. I'd go 4.56 so you can definitely feel the power. You have 3.55 and 6 speed?

For only having 35's, a gear swap isn't necessary.
Yea, it will bring back alot of power, but for the cost to swap the gears, I wouldn't do it.
Buy a tuner and correct your speedo. Your shift points will be corrected and the truck will run better.

Gears don't "give you power back." The amount of power the engine makes doesn't change with a different final drive. The *amount of power required* to do the "work" you're asking of the engine changes (like accelerating through each gear). To compensate for that, add more available power output from the engine. Doing that means you compromise nothing but the $$ you spend on engine modifications, instead of still spending a lot of money on gears, and losing a drastic amount of achievable speed per gear by going from a 3.xx to a 4.56. Also, either way you're losing fuel economy, but you probably aren't worried about that anyways (I don't think many of us are, lol).

What final drive does your truck have in it right now?

If you want to do the swap you will need a front diff from a 2011 truck. As 7777xm stated, the ring gear is welded to the carrier in the 2012+ trucks so a simple ring and pinion swap isn't an option.

With 35's I wouldn't go any lower than 4.10 gears for a daily driver; 4.56's will be too low IMO.

You'd probably be very happy with 4.10. I know some friends with 35's and they have 3.92 and are very happy with that but if you are swapping you may as well go 4.10.

I've got 35's and 3.92 gears. With my hemifever tune my truck is faster than it was stock. 3.92's love the 35's lol

I've got 37's and 3.92 gears with a BD 93 tune. Runs just the same as stock, no lag. I wonder what 4.56s and a Hemifever tune would do to it! Hmmm...:naughty:

37's with 4.56's and a tuned/deleted 6.7 Cummins making 600hp/1300 ft-lbs... trust me, it's fun! ;) :roflsquared:
