These are cool. Depending on your vehicle config....

In South Carolina it has to be "contained." In a glove box, center console, trunk, etc. It cannot be open access like the under the dash magnetic mounts, sitting under the seat, in the door pocket, etc.

Is there any reason that you couldn’t just put one of those magnet mounts inside the console?
Then it would be “contained” in the console, and “quickly accessible” once the console is opened.

1911 with retention holster mounted under the dash on the right side of the 4x4 shifter. I angled it so it’s comfortable to access.

Go look at JM4 tactical magnetic holsters. You slip them over the lip where the map holder is. Right next to your hip. No drilling required, plenty of retention. Its a great solution that is not permanent too.

FYI...magnetic holsters for a vehicle can not be illegal. Its not a quick draw.

I have the Alien Gear holster/ Cloak dock combo. I love it! I also carry a Springfield .40 (when it's cool enough to wear a jacket) and a Colt Mustang for the warmer months. The holster allows me to switch out the shell and use the same accessories.

That is exactly what I have, in the same spot. Although I rotated mine back so it's smoother to remove, more natural

I need ideas for pistol mounts. I was thinking of some kind of holster, double side taped to the inside of the center console. I've seen the magnetic mounts but it's not legal in my state. .40 Springfield XD is my truck gun.

A gun?? WTF. Must be from the US. Thankfully Canada has strict gun laws.

What exactly is not legal about the magnetic mounts?

In Florida, inside a vehicle, the weapon has to be "securely encased" and not in plain sight. Securely encased is defined as a zipper case, some type of closable container, or a holster with a retaining strap.

If you have a concealed permit, you can conceal on your person....But even with a permit, you have to follow the "securely encased" rule when concealing in your car, and it cannot be in plain sight.

I have my Concealed Weapon Permit. I want a mount that keeps it out of sight and out of the way, but easy access when needed. Yes without a permit it must be in a contained area. But in the event my wife is driving, who is not currently a card holder, i don't want her catching a weapons charge.

"With a permit from South Carolina or other recognized state, you can carry a loaded concealed handgun in a vehicle on or about your person."

Just asking for mounting ideas fellas, not a legal class. If i don't see one i like i will make one and do a write-up in here.

Well if you carry with a permit wife and you why would you need a mount?....No class just no mount needed.

That sucks, here in Ohio we can have it open in the vehicle.
